I went to the KFC on Crain Hwy in La Plata Md twice this last month. Both times the French fries were old, cold, and hard. They were so hard I couldn't even chew them; they were like hard rubber. The chicken was also old, hard, and dry, similar to wood chips. Try to imagine that lunch. The 1ST time I asked for fresh fries, the lady I later found out was the manager. She told me she could give me fresh fries, but as far as the chicken goes, all the Spicy chicken (which was my selection) was like that. She added, if she cooks me a fresh box of chicken, she could lose her job.
It didn't make sense to me why KFC would fire her for cooking a fresh box of chicken if a paying customer told her (and showed her) that they could not eat the old box of food they had received. I didn't want her to lose her job over a box of chicken, so I took the fries and left. The second time I went to the window, I got a box of old, hard, dry French fries and chicken again. So again, I asked for freshly cooked French fries. At that point, I heard a lady inside complaining about me asking for fresh French fries. While driving around front to go in for the French fries, I glanced in the box at the chicken, and I was shocked! I've never seen anything that looked like that chicken in my life. So, I decided to ask for a refund.
When I got to the counter, and asked the individual behind the counter for a refund. The individual (lady) behind the counter started complaining and asked me what was wrong. When I told her I couldn't eat the food and wanted a refund, she started raising her voice, asking the Lord to help her through the day. I couldn't understand her reaction, So I asked her whether there was a problem. She started yelling and talking down to me as if I had asked her for free food. Then she had the nerve to tell me she was the manager.
I told her I thought she was a horrible manager. Her response was 267 people believed she was a good manager. I didn't know what she was talking about until I thought about this site. I'm sure the 267 people she referred to never visited KFC when she managed it unless they were all her personal friends. Not sure why KFC made her a manager, but they need to revisit that decision quickly. I took my money and went next door to Popeyes, where the service was 150% better, and I was not afraid to...
Read moreI recently had a visit to KFC La Plata in Maryland, and overall, I had a positive experience. This location has had its fair share of challenges, from being destroyed in a tornado in 2002 to navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these hurdles, KFC La Plata has managed to adapt by offering To-Go Delivery and a mobile app for ordering.
Ordering through the mobile app was a breeze, and I was impressed by the speed of service. Upon entering the restaurant, I found it to be clean both inside and outside, which is always a plus.
However, I did notice some competition from a Louisiana-based fried chicken restaurant next door, which seemed to be much busier. Perhaps KFC La Plata could consider using social media, engaging with their app users, and local advertising to increase their visibility and stand out from the competition.
While the order was hot and the service was efficient, I did find that the quality of the chicken seemed slightly different from what I remember. It felt like the original recipe had been lightened up a bit, which was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the specials on the app were limited, and there were only a few in-house specials available on certain days.
One thing to note is that without the specials, the price points at KFC La Plata can be quite high compared to simply getting roasted or fried chicken from a local grocery store. However, I believe that if KFC La Plata continues to offer enticing specials and promotions, it could attract more customers and encourage repeat visits.
Overall, I had a satisfactory experience at KFC La Plata, and I may consider returning in the future if they offer more specials. This location is the last one in the area for about 15+ miles, making it a convenient option for those residing in King George, Virginia, and south of Waldorf, Maryland. With some strategic marketing efforts, KFC La Plata can increase its notability and become the go-to fast food fried chicken restaurant...
Read moreArrived at store at 9:30pm and store closes at 10pm. I understand it’s almost closing but if you are out of stuff you should lead with just to inform you we only have the following items available. I ordered two 4 pc chicken tenders combo with fries. I get told we don’t have fries. Ok so I ordered two Mac’s. Then get told to hold on because the previous car was taking some tenders. Then get drive thru proceeds to say we have extra crispy. My wife ask well is that tenders person replies yes. We get told window and pay and the meals that come out are 4pc chicken meals not tenders. My wife tells them we didn’t order that we specifically asked for tenders. Drive thru young lady says her manager in the back says we can’t do refunds as in saying yall keep that and the tenders were frozen. We said we didn’t ask for that and we wanted and wanted our money back then. Drive thru young lady goes back to tell her manager and it changed to we will drop the tenders for one of your meals and yall keep the other one and to just pull around to the front. Again we asked for two 4pc tender meals. So if you’re willing to drop 4 why not drop the 8. At this point no need to go back and forth with ppl who are making your food and one of the meals was for my son. So we kept one of the wrong meals and pulled around to wait for one of the correct meals. All this to say your shift ends at 10pm not 9:35pm and if you’re out of stuff, fryers down whatever the case maybe. Just lead with better customer service from the get go so there aren’t no misunderstandings. I worked fast food when I was younger so I get wanting to get off after closing at a decent time. So you cut fryers off, start cleaning and condensing stuff etc. If it was led with or fryers are down we don’t have any tenders at this time we would’ve said thanks and...
