Hartz Chicken Buffet — Restaurant in La Porte

Worst place ever. We got there for dinner. We have stopped by on a day it was closed. Today we went. Worst place ever. I’ve gone to the 2 Pasadena ones but then we saw this new one was there so we tried it. Finally open when we went. The food was old, macaroni was small and looked old crusty, the mashed potatoes looked like putty, the liver was burnt dark burnt . The lady there would put 1 roll out at a time . And look over at our table. We were the only 4 there. I got 1 roll . Later my daughter got one. My son in law didn’t dare to go get one. Embarrassing. The strips of chicken was just fried batter. Embarrassing. The side veggie table, everything on it looked old. Brown lettuce, everything on there was just Yukky. It was such a waste of time and money. It was disgusting. Never again. They owe us money. Never again. Don’t go there. Stick to Pasadena fairmont. No it’s not the same but trust me it’s perfect compared to...

Food was fresh....not common for THIS location. Baytown location on Alexander is my go-to location for Hartz. Service was good, very nice, courteous, and attentive staff. Everything was going good...until I went back up to the counter for toothpicks...which the toothpick dispenser was pretty cool by the way. Motion activated single toothpick dispenser lifts one at a time out of the container. Had to see it work 4 times before I said "ok, that's enough". Now for the only thing I didn't like about this particular visit.... customers ordering their food in line ahead of me as I waited to get some toothpicks ordered fried okra. I really like fried okra.... as they were done ordering and left, I asked about them having fried okra. "Yes, we do." ..." I didn't see it on the buffet bar."...... "yah, it's not on the buffet, it's an upcharge for the okra". Very disappointing..... What I did get to eat was...

Truly disappointed. Pre Covid19 this place was amazing. Clean/Fresh Food etc.

Now, its filthy, cashier was just sitting in a chair in a corner when I walked in, went right back to the chair when I paid, then was joined by another worker and what appeared to be a manager, cashier never left the chair the entire time I was dining. The buffet line was bare, dried rice and desserts stuck to the pan. Fish was old, maybe 5 pieces of fried chicken were out...nothing fresh coming out, only one person appeared to working behind on food. No Fresh Food was brought out the entire time I was there. The dining area and buffets were dirty and needed cleaning. I won't ever be back, I was there around 715pm so the excuse we were close to closing is irrelevant. Lazy employees milking the clock is what I saw. Seems to be a sign...
