Goodwill Select Store & Donation Center — Local services in La Porte

Not a real positive store for Goodwill... And I so much enjoy these stores in every way possible. I have personally purchased basically my entire household furnishings, etc at many, many different establishments all over the USA. I've never NOT found unique items, collectibles, antique pieces of furniture, and on and on. I have some AMAZING pieces that were in return INCREDIBLE deals!!! This location was just not up to par at all.. items had 4 to 5 stickers all over them, and each sticker showed a totally different price than one another. The staff was a shock for me mainly because not one of the four ever even spoke to me directly nor at any of the other customers in their store.. it was bizarre and uncomfortable for me especially but I also noticed the others had confused and even "put out" expressions on their faces!!! Never, ever experienced this with ANY of the Goodwill stores...so disturbing to say the least. The MAIN issue .. the 4 employees DID strictly talk among themselves... WOW. Again, so sorry for being the Debbie Downer but I truly feel like the manager of this location needs to correct this behavior or at least get involved in their store beginning with a course/training regarding PUBLIC RELATIONS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE TOPPED OFF WITH ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES. In a nutshell.... when I was ready to check out with my one item and get out of there, there was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE AT THE REGISTER...two of the 4 other customers walked out cussing and angry!! The last customer besides myself stood beside me and proceeded to wait... with me. Almost 15 minutes later, I gave up and walked out myself. The customer waiting to be checked out beside me threw her merchandise back in her cart and pushed it, quite hard into the others at the front of the store. Just overall bad, bad...

DRYROTTED sandals!!! *RUDE/UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER that morning. Tall skinny male loudly implied I LIED about the $10 shoes in order to scam the store. All I wanted was to exchange this pair which my husband & inlaws watch come apart on my feet. The right shoe lasted longer. Max time on my 1/2 size smaller foot was -2. hours. EMBARRASSED? Yes I was...but MORE SO & COMPLETELY SHOCKED a $10 defective pair of shoes out of a $197.00 purchase was turned around to LOUDLY CALL ME A LIAR AT THE FRONT COUNTER. *This was the only downside of my visit here to consult with a cardiologist on my upcoming open-heart surgery. I'm an honest, charitable, kind person who contributed materially & financially to this business quite a while now. This manager should be demoted to warehouse labor if not janitorial. HE NEEDS HUMILITY & PEOPLE SKILLS to work supervising people being given another chance to get their lives back. Not display arrogance or a 'better than thou' demeanor for anyone to see as an example of someone can make the chop on their shoulder so visible. I own a business & have managed a Fortune 500 company ...THIS should make it clear I posted this after trying to push it to the back of my mind as ignorance but for the fact his actions were visably deliberate. Two stars given for the few employees Saturday before & from my many trips there overr the last 18 months. BAYTOWN HAS AN EXCEPTIONAL GOODWILL SELECT....you should visit it. I gave/give it 5 stars...

We drive up to the drop off point. The lady that was there came out and questioned up is that a recliner love seats, we told her yes. That she was the only one back there and there's no way she can unload it herself. My husband just had back surgery about a month ago and he couldn't help her. My husband said isn't there any one else that can help you? She said she'll try to find someone, she left to go look. We almost left to go take it else where. When she came back and said I don't know how long it's going to take to get someone back here to help. I told her we were busy and couldn't stay. About that time a young man came thru the door and he got the recliner out. We did notice a truck driver that works for goodwill just sitting in his truck the whole time we where there looking at us. It seems like to me he could have gotten out if the truck and came to help the lady, but he...
