READ TO THE END BEFORE U DARE TO EAT HERE, PLEASE. If it would allow me on google I’d give this place a absolute negative-5 stars. My family and I loved this restaurant but under new ownership I’m appalled. The food is so cheap and thrown together, I vomited, as one of my kids due to Carne guisada tacos they were so fatty it was almost only fat. Why did y’all take the best Mexican restaurant in our little town and destroy it so that if we want good breakfast tacos you gotta go to San Antonio or buy alpo chunk wet dog food to get better? In our tiny town everyone has regulars and everyone knows each other but you’ve even wrecked that. Not everyone knows yet so they still show up for hope that they might get good food. Not generic canned dog food and yesterday’s left overs. How do I have the knowledge of what they serve are powdered beans, well I’m happy to tell ya, a good friend worked as a waitress and got fired. Fired for telling the new owner the truth about complains, truth about why people weren’t returning and the truth about how disgusting and the food truly is now. What once was the best breakfast in La Vernia is the running joke of how gross it is. Preparing eggs and dried beans with the cheapest cheese the day before is gross. Especially when u add the old with the new food from days prior. This place has been many restaurants before and never had roaches and mice (that aren’t even scared ofyou) try to snatch the food in the kitchen. Please be warned and know the truth. I’ll never eat there again but be aware if you dare. I’m giving 5 stars or they’ll just delete the truth. The man that sold the restaurant refuses to eat there cause he knows they ruined his menu with nastiness. Not even the wait staff will eat the food or drink the nasty old tea, that alone should show you how nasty it is, when you pay for food elsewhere when you can eat garbage free. I pray for those who choose to eat here cause you with get super sick in 24 hours if you make it out without feeling ill. No more, I know of 3 people it sent to the hospital, please don’t eat here or you will get sick too, I promise you. TO THE OWNER, SHAME ON YOU, GET IT TOGETHER AND STOP...
Read moreGreat breakfast location so four stars for Alondras Mexican Restaurant in La Vernia TX. Located on the south west side of town. Very tasty fair. On a July 2019 morning visit had the huevos rancheros with ranchero sauce on the side and also had the huevo a la Mexicana. Both were great tasting and cooked to order perfectly. The ranchero sauce was very good and something I’ll go back for. The service staff did everything right, making sure our order was taken in a timely manner and getting drinks and refills as needed without having to ask. They were very attentive during our visit. The location is easy to get to and getting inside has easy access. The locals that were there during our visit made for some good people watching and all were friendly. This is a family friendly place and we saw several. Alondras Mexican Restaurant’s menu was clear and easy to read and had a lot of options for all meal times offered. They have a drive through that was busy the whole time we were there. Hours are generally 6am to 3pm daily and closed on Friday (from the google search – did not catch this detail while there). Only less than great thing was the men's restroom could of used some attention but was manageable. If you make it to La Vernia and are looking for a better than average local meal, this is one of the places I’d keep...
Read moreMy daughter called in a to go order of 60 tacos for an early birthday party breakfast after my grandson's baseball game yesterday. She placed the order 2 days in advance to be ready to walk out the door at 9:30 am. We arrived at 9:33 am and they had not even starated preparing the tacos. The people I spoke to were not friendly and had attitude. They said they were so busy, yet we called the order in 2 days early for this reason. When I asked they place the tacos in sacks by type they begrudgingly did so. The tacos are small and dry, but we needed something close and fast. We had to wait 25 minutes for them to make the 60 tacos. The party attendees had to wait for us to bring the tacos to the party. I love to support local, but the people had poor custom service and the tacos are not the best and our order was 70.00 dollars. I am glad that they did prepare the tacos, but they were so rude to us as paying customers. Next time we will be trying...
