Chick Fil A is known for their great food and friendly service. This Lacey addition is no different. The employees are courteous and prompt despite long lines and at times terrible weather in shared raincoats.
However, the owner and the supervisors at this location need to check themselves. When employee labor laws are being willfully violated and they go to their supervisors about it continually and nothing is done, there’s no excuse for that. Your supervisors should never be arguing in front of the employees about what’s legal and what’s not.
There are laws in place for a reason. Employee breaks whether 10 minutes or 30 minutes for meals need to and must be honored. Add in violating these labor law with minors and you are walking a thin line.
These young adults and minors came searching for work during a pandemic, to a restaurant they love. They’ve been doing excellent work for a new owner to which he reaps the benefits of their labor. These same employees are now being used as scapegoats for poor management. After months of going forward about violations with nothing changing, the owner has now resorted to interrogating his employees because they’ve been talking to each other about the violations. Your employees have rights. Not just to breaks in their shifts but the ability to talk freely with one another about the violations. Berating and belittling them in a tiny room in your restaurant is pathetic and does not change what has been allowed to continue in your work place. Just because you send your employees long emails about how much you care about them, does not justify your lack of following laws. Nor does it makes up for it. You cannot cover up being wrong by trying to convince your employees that they are wrong to discuss work amongst each other off the clock.
This is a scare tactic, manipulating, and a form of retaliation. Maybe because you are embarrassed by your lack of knowledge regarding what’s going on in your own establishment. As a leader you should strive to protect and support your most vulnerable employees. Young adults and minors still in school showing perseverance and resilience with the chaos climate and health scare our country and our world is in.
Your employees are other people’s children and that should matter. Cornering minors in a room as if you’re their father and they’re in trouble is highly inappropriate and I’m sure you know that. If knowing your employees are smart enough to know that they can call L&I about labor laws infuriates you that much maybe holding yourself and your supervisors accountable and making sure your business is running professionally in every way would be a better outlet for your anger. You should gather your supervisors and look in the mirror instead of acting like you’re still a Navy pilot and your employees are your enlisted personnel. Your military stint is over and these are not your soldiers. I highly doubt this is the leadership you speak of in your engagements about The Coin.
I highly doubt that you preach to aspiring leaders that shall they come upon a situation where they are in the wrong, then chastising your employees one by one in a small closed off room until you feel you’ve broken them down for speaking the truth is the pathway to success.
Coincidentally, these employees are past due for their 90 day evaluations which include raises. They’ve been doing excellent work . They returned after the shut down when Chick Fil A had an outbreak of Covid and they had to get tested and quarantine. Let’s hope they get their raises and breaks are handled properly now that it’s been exposed and the owner and supervisors treat their employees with respect and admit that yes it’s okay to discuss labor laws with each other. Because it...
Read moreGood food, but I was really surprised at the lack of customer service. They are only open for drive-thru right now, so they have taken that to mean that even online/mobile orders should go through the drive-thru line. The line is very long, so having to wait in line to pick up your online order totally negates the reason you'd place an online order! I understand that during COVID they're trying to limit the amount of people going into the store, but there are tons of other options, like having someone meet you at the door, or letting mobile orders go through a shortcut into the drive-thru line or something - like a fast pass.
I didn't realize we'd have to wait in line and had a car full of young children (4 and under) that needed lunch and naps, so I asked if they'd make an exception and they said no. I was really shocked because Chick-fil-A is normally known for customer service. They were polite, but not accommodating at all.
And to make matters even worse, we finally decided to wait in line (only because we had a dvd player to distract the children), and then everyone who just ordered at the cashier like normal got their food on time by the time they got to the pickup window, and we had to pull into a parking stall to be forgotten and finally have to walk back to them to get our food.
Terrible customer service, terrible experience. In fact I have it three stars originally but decided to take one away because of our food taking so long inexplicably when everyone else got their food on time (we ordered very normal things.. not sure why it would displace our order by so many cars - and then to be...
Read moreI have been to so many chick fil a locations across the country from east coast to west I was super excited when they opened up one in lacey, WA. I have been there two or three times now. Longwaits each time. I the last time and most recent have been very displeased with the service coming from a few of the employees. I wish they would repeat your order back to you. Seems as I am sure I ordered a large sweet tea, even had a sweet conversation with the girl about not having lemons. I understood completely, specially at this time. I got up to the window (finally 20min later) after only ordering mac n cheese and sweet tea. They said they may have been out it. I did not want to wait and was asking for a refund at the time. I know they are busy so I wasn't upset but the girl at the window seemed like I was bothering her with the transaction. So they said it would only be another min and it should be ready. I said that is fine. Then I didn't get my drink by this point. So I mentioned I ordered a large sweet tea. And they gave me a medium. I said I am sure I ordered a large and the girl that handed my drink to me and gave me a weird stare like what do you want me to do. And instead of just fixing my order and allowing me to post this negative review. Just saying they could have easily fixed this. It's disconcerting that this chick fil a is like this. Hopefully...
