We had reservations for Bailey's on Saturday at 7:30. When we arrived there was no one dining there. That should have been our first clue to leave. Very strange as there was a music festival and college homecoming in town. We decided to stay since it was late. They offer free wine corkage and luckily we took note of that and brought our own bottle as the do not serve any liquor, beer, or wine. I ordered the chicken with rosemary potatoes, and artichokes with a side of broccoli. The chicken was so dry and over cooked I could hardly cut through it. almost the texture of it being left over and warmed up in a microwave. There was no rosemary on the potatoes and they were lukewarm. The broccoli was clearly out of date/old and had some brown spotted areas. The other people in our party also had issues with their dishes - no taste, mushy crab cake that was not cooked correctly. The salmon was ok, side dishes were lukewarm. We sent nothing back , nor did we tell the waiter, because it was getting late and just wanted to move on with our evening. The ONLY bright spot of the night was our waiter, Alex. He was so nice and very attentive!! We felt bad for him having to work that night with no patrons and hence not tips. Hope he finds another job that will pay him better and let him use his interpersonal skills! Thanks Alex for making a bad dining experience more pleasurable. I would give you 5...
Read moreI have been to Bailey's Tandoori Grill twice since they've opened as an Indian restaurant. I went one night with a large party and ordered off of the menu. Everyone chose a dish and we passed them around "family style" so everyone could sample each dish.
In addition to traditional Indian dishes, they have some of the old Bailey's favorites on the menu, like Crab Cakes, Zydeco Chicken, and Fried Flounder with shrimp on top. We tried each of these and they were amazing!
Some of the Indian dishes that we tried were the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikkah Masala, and Shrimp Malai Curry. We had Garlic Naan, Vegetable Samosas, the Samosa Chaat, and Vegetable Pakoras to accompany our Entrees and everything was delicious. My dad (an 81 year old Cajun) is not very adventurous in experimenting with new foods and he loved the Shrimp Malai Curry and asked for a second serving! I have driven to Baton Rouge since I moved back to Lafayette to get my Butter Chicken fix, but the dishes here are on par with any of the Indian restaurants in Baton Rouge or Houston, TX.
I tried the Sunday Buffet also and the dish that I can't stop thinking about from that particular Sunday was the Lamb Karahi. I had never tried this dish before, but will absolutely order it from now on. The lamb was so tender and the sauce was...
Read moreWe've eaten here before and love everything about it. When we go, we have seen people we know and they love it too. We like to eat LOCAL as much as possible. The food is usually AWESOME at these places. I think they put a little extra love and care in what they do. They still practice Customer Service, imagine that. Mr. Bailey also serves a Thanksgiving meal to the needy and has been doing this for decades, even now with things so expensive. Some said they were a little expensive, but I see happy employees, good food and great service and they also give back to the community. We like Christian people who do Christian things like he does, and then keeps on doing it, year after year. Not many places do that. One restaurant in Texas serves their Police, Fire Fighters EMT'S, Veterans and Service men and women, and Teachers, a meal for 1/2 price, twice a year. That is pretty awesome. Guess where these people take their families out to eat? As they should. I love a...
