Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop — Restaurant in Lafayette

We loved this place. Honestly, not only the best pie in Lafayette, maybe the best I ever had. Every time someone came to visit, we would take them here. BUT they changed their crust. It used to be shortbread. Now it is just a regular pie crust and not even a good one. A bad grocery store tasting pie crust. My mom is visiting and I wanted to give them another chance. Since I know the new crust is not good, I called ahead and specifically asked for some pies with the shortbread crust. It did not have it. So I asked them to replace it and the manager came out and told me "that's the shortbread." I took a bite in front of her, and showed her. She just said "I don't know what to tell you, that is the shortbread crust." So, they either do not make shortbread crust anymore and use a regular bland crust, or they changed their recipe and now make the worlds most disgusting shortbread. I'm not a crazy about pie, but during my time in Lafayette, my work peeps raved about this place. Decided to give it a try and grabbed an apple and a key lime for the wife. Oh My Goodness!!! That pie was like apples and fairies were having an orgy in my mouth. It was so good and the crust was like a warm, flaky retainer that I didn't want to take out. First time having Buttermilk Sky, and I was impressed. Really love the decor and the people. We had the following:

Key Lime - house made graham cracker crust is filled with our perfectly balanced key lime filling

Pecan - blend of toasted pecans and gooey filling enveloped in our buttery shortbread crust
