Los Nopales Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in LaGrange

About 2 1/2 years ago a MOUSE fell from the ceiling and ran across the floor when a co-worker and I were having lunch one day. I had been leery of Los Nopales since then. Turns out this would not be the last bad experience with this restaurant. I went to this location on today around 2:30 pm with my husband and son. The experience was cold and uninviting. First, once we were seated it took over 20 mins before a server came to take our drink order and give us chips and salsa. There was a male and a female server working the bar area at that time. No one even made eye contact or acknowledged us. We eventually flagged down the female server to get drink orders and since we wasted so much time already we placed out food orders at the same time. The server brought our drinks and we had to flag her down again 5 minutes later and yell we needed chips and salsa. We wanted to order margaritas and cheese dip but the servers - the male and female- never came our direction and refused to make eye contact with us. We eventually left without waiting for food to come out. We explained to cashier at front that we wanted to pay for out drinks and leave. She did not charge us for sodas which was fair. I am usually not a complainer and I have a lot of patience especially if there is a crowed restaurant (it wasnt). But Los Nopales fell short once again, simply acknowledging your customers goes a long way. We ultimately left because the servers ignoring us and neither bothered to come to check on us unless summoned by us. I am not one to say much usually but this has to be said! This place is So terrible now, we had a birthday dinner for my niece, they literally brought out cold cheese dip to everyone at the table twice, waitress admitted she put it in the microwave to warm it again, food came out after, every single plate was cold, not fresh, told the waitress and the manager, said she would see what was going on, never returned to the table, never came back and refilled anyone's drinks the entire time we were at the table, had to tell the lady again about the food, manager said sorry but never addressed the issue, waitress became very rude after we complained for the 4th or 5th time, if someone brings this to your attention, and you ignore the whole table, there's a huge issue and getting a attitude with your customers. The Manager literally told us that she went to the back and checked and there were a lot of plates back there sitting and maybe that's what it was... I, nor my family will ever be back. It's really sad how this restaurant has became so awful. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Clearly the fact that it was not busy at all should have been a clue! Maybe there was an issue with the kitchen staff, and the manager should have handled it and brought us food that was edible , instead you make your customers feel like we are the issue when we made it a point to bring it to your attention immediately. Just took my family, a party of 4 adults and 3 kids, there for the lunch buffet. We saw our waitress maybe 2 times, but not that unusual for a buffet. When the bill arrived, I noticed I was overcharged. I sat there and waited for the waitress for about 10 minutes then so I could get it fixed went to cashier. Got that corrected after a bit of a wait, as the manager had to approve. I then noticed that 18% tip was added to our bill because of a party of 6 or more. I have no problem giving an 18% tip for great service, but for a buffet and the service we received it was not appropriate. I asked for the manager, Brandon, who was rude, rude, rude. He told me the policy was listed on the menu and it was NON-NEGOTIABLE. As a customer who wasnt even given a menu received mediocre service for a party where almost half were children, he offered no solution for the excessive tip except to date me to review the restaurant and dispute the transaction.
