Yank Sing — Restaurant in Lake Charles

Today, I ordered from Yank Sing for the first time and it will be the very last as well. I phoned in my order and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. Once I returned to my destination with my order, I began to separate the food boxes and when I did this I noticed holes in the styrofoam boxes which held my food. I ordered the sweet & sour shrimp which was so blistering hot that it melted the food box in which it sat; this box was on top of another and it proceed to melt that box beneath as well. The sweet & sour shrimp was mainly just batter and fried to an extra, extra crisp! Not to mention the chemicals that were burned into the shrimp from the styrofoam. 🤢 Completely unappetizing and disappointing. I called the restaurant to make them aware of this and the person I spoke with simply said, “The way they are trained, they take the food out of the grease and are supposed to let it drain and cook, but they didn’t do that apparently; they just must have put it in the box. I will tell them not to do that anymore.” 😳 I didn’t receive an offer to make my meal right or anything. I was completely disappointed and I wasted $15. My husband and I love this hole in the very family oriented business. We love it bc it is perfect for us as I order Shrimp Egg Foo Young offwoff the menu , it is made like right then literally, the mixture of veggies and shrimp are to to perfection. Egg Drop Soup is delicious 🥣💯. My husband likes the buffet. It is rather a small buffet but my husband LOVES IT. I am stuck on Egg Foo Young. I like to go inside to eat because it is quiet, casual and I like to see the family work together. Some people would find it displeasing but the older sister was helping the younger sister do homework at one of the tables. They were very quiet and the older daughter was always on her toes to make sure we had drinks or anything else we needed. I highly recommend this place. I'll give it 3 stars because this was my first time trying it and I had it delivered, however, I will say that after about 10 bites of the hot and sour soup, I couldn't eat any more. It tasted overly peppered and was filled with tiny pieces of mushrooms and lacked the ingredients hot and sour soups typically have. I also had the spicy shrimp. I thought it would be decent sized shrimp but I assumed wrong. The sauce with it was ok but didn't come close to my expectations. The fried rice was lacking depth and flavor. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken. No complaints here, granted, that's hard to mess up.
