WARNING: NOT THE ORIGINAL FONTANO'S Purchased three, 12 inch American subs on 11/10/23 and they were HORRIBLE. It is evident that the ownership has changed and so has the quality of the food. The meat was of both of a lesser quality--tasteless and quantity--skimpy, which they attempted to disguise by piling a mountain of vegetable toppings atop the sandwiches. My son, who is on the autism spectrum, (I mention this only because consistency is a must and any change is immediately noticed by him), took a few bites and pushed away the remainder, saying "not zesty," which is what he named Fontano's subs. Both my sister and I took a couple of bites from our respective sandwiches, and immediately realized that these were not the same quality Fontano's sandwiches we usually purchased, most recently in September or early last month. The bread/bun was tough/stale. Needless to say, we discarded the remains of all three of these absolutely horrible sandwiches, thus wasting $45.99 + tip. I live far east and after a long busy day, I was too exhausted and hungry to return these sandwiches. Besides, I certainly did not want another of their horrible sandwiches. The staff members were polite and pleasant, but no second chances here, especially after reading another review with the same complaint. Fontano's on west 95th Street, east of Evergreen Plaza, has been deleted from my contacts. I rated them one star only because I did not want the owners or management to think that I forgot to rate their business! For quality and quantity, they deserve a zero rating! Signed, NOW A...
Read moreWhen this Fontano’s first came to the south side I was so happy. It was not quite as good as the original in Little Italy but it was decent and I was glad not to have to make the drive to get my favorite sub. Recently it seems to be in decline. I went there for an individual sandwich and the meat did not seem of good quality. A month later my sister asked me to pick up a platter from there - the bread was barely cooked and had an almost raw consistency. You can definitely tell that they are using a different kind of bread and going with cheaper products. I believe there may be new owners who don’t care as much about the quality. After going to the original Fontano’s in Little Italy today I feel confident about my review of the Beverly location - something is off and when I mentioned this to the employees at the Little Italy location they said that I was not the first to complain about the Beverly location. I will not be going back and will just have to take the drive to Little Italy to experience my favorite...
Read moreThe subs are some of the best subs I’ve tasted besides Al & Joe’s off Mannheim. They make the subs fresh and I love that the ingredients they use are all fresh. Some places will give you ok’d lettuce but not this place. Everything was fresh and I will be returning. I would have given them 5 stars but I didn’t like that after I placed my order I seen a sign that said, Buy one 12 inch sub and get a free salad”. I had purchased two 12 in subs and the cashier didn’t tell me anything about the offer. Good thing I looked and called them out on it. But why should you have to ask for these deals. It should be the staff responsibility to try and give you the best experience possible, especially when the deals aren’t posted in the front so that you can clearly see. It’s almost like they post the deal all the way in the back on the blackboard and make it hard to read so that you won’t take advantage...
