It's just ok, and barely. Probably best for late night with goggles. Typical flashy marketing and subpar fast food- Chicago style. Bottom line first- I'd say it's well below Portillos and slightly below Wendy's. That's right; I did not mistype.
Reasoning: very sauce oriented (over sauced) with small amounts of protein. For example, their take on the Nashville chicken sandwich is pretty bad: it is dripping with a sweet sauce but covered in a batter that is medium/mild spicy. I can normally overlook this when I've been fasting for a day and a half, but it was something else. ALL BUN AND BREADING, almost no chicken. I kept expecting to find more chicken, but it never materialized, and I realized that I just ate like a quarter pound of bun and breading, and maybe like 2 or 3 oz of chicken, at least in the one I had. yikes. To best visualize- I'd put Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich way above this monstrosity, and I don't hold their chicken sandwich in high regard, but it's not too bad. It's no Budlong or Crisp, but the Wendy's version will satisfy the craving. I shouldn't have mentioned Budlong or Crisp out of respect.
Also tried a double cheeseburger. Mind you they are called sliders and only include 2 oz patties. This is fine, but the hamburger meat was very tough to chew and way overdone. Of course, if you've ever cooked a burger before, it makes sense that with a thin 2 oz patty you have to be very careful not to overcook it. They did (overcook it). Not good at all. I'll also remind you that I hadn't eaten in like 32 hours, so I was ridiculously hungry and still think this.
I'll just stop here and let you try it, or not...and I will not mention that they have all of the Chicago sports teams on the ceiling sans the White...
Read moreWent to the Belmont location and ordered the Chicago hot dog w fries. My friend ordered the same thing. When I ordered the cashier was on the phone the whole time and asked if I wanted the fries on or in a bag on the side. I chose on the side (side note: fries on a Chicago style hot dog is NOT a Chicago style hot dog, but I digress). The cashier told me my total was $10 for fries and the dog. I’m like what! Inflation! Pandemic taxation without fry representation? I questioned this and he said oh I thought you wanted a large bag of fries. I’m not one to shy away from fried foods and can eat pretty well but my colon would probably have been angry if I ate the large fry. Anyways, I “downgraded” to a what I thought was the fries that come with the special and was still charged more than expected . My friend ordered the same thing but with the fries on the dog but when I picked up the order they were exactly the same. What gives here? If you want to gouge the consumer than do it to someone else because this gal is moving on to bigger, better, French fry and sport pepper...
