I recently had the pleasure of trying the cheese pizza from The Slice Shop, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. First and foremost, the crust was perfectly crispy. Each bite offered a satisfying crunch that complemented the gooey, melted cheese on top. It's clear that the pizzeria knows how to strike the right balance between a crispy exterior and a soft, airy interior. The dough itself had a nice flavor, with just the right amount of chewiness. The cheese was another highlight. Generously layered, it was rich and creamy without being overwhelming. The blend of cheeses used provided a well-rounded flavor profile, with a hint of sharpness that added depth to each bite. The cheese stretched beautifully, indicating its freshness and quality. Overall, The Slice Shop’s cheese pizza is a testament to the simplicity of a classic done right. If you're a fan of crispy crusts and flavorful, stretchy cheese, this pizza is definitely worth a try.

Out the gate, this might be my favorite "SPECIALTY" pizza in Chicago. The 'GRANDMA' style of pizza is not something you get in Chicago at a lot of places, and this place is definitely an anomaly. I've gotten the slices here (with the "EVERYTHING ON IT" option), and it's just a well-made piece of pie. The crust is truly the star, as it's fluffy yet has a bit of crunch to it, and wide! The way I'd describe it is like a distant cousin of Deep Dish, but a 1st cousin to Detroit Style. I got the full pie, and let me just say the reheat value on this is superb! It might actually taste BETTER when reheated either on a skillet or in an oven at 400 (7-8 mins). It's consistent, the price is worth the value, and the quality is on point. Trifecta!! Shoutout to EL PRESIDENTE for putting me on. I've passed this place several times and gave it a shot thanks to BIG DAVE! Highly recommend!

The pizza was just OK. Certainly not worth $36 for the Grandma Style pizza. There were 6 slices, and for 2 hungry people, they were gone quickly. With a price like that, I would expect more food. I'm used to large pizzas costing around $25, and those are bigger! For example, one of my favorite pizzas from Austin TX (Home Slice) is $23 for a very large, substantial pizza. This cost $13 more than that, and it just wasn't as good. Recently, I got great pizza in San Diego, and that was cheaper, tastier, and more food.

The pizza was pretty dry, and I'm not sure what others are raving about. I've had better home-made pizza from Trader Joe's dough thrown together in 20 minutes. It wasn't BAD, it just wasn't amazing. I got the half/half Vodka and Veggie. The veggie half was pretty good, but not incredible.

When I get pizza from a restaurant, my test for if it is worth it is "Is this better than frozen pizza?" And sadly this one was not. I would have better enjoyed a $8 frozen pizza.

Also, I placed an online order for 6:15 PM, and didn't leave the store until 6:25. I was in sort of a rush, so when I place an order for a set time, I expect it be ready at that time. The workers seemed pretty frazzled and it wasn't the most comfortable...

  • Edit to respond* No sir or Ma'am I was not drunk. Don't assume everyone that goes to the North Halsted neighborhood is drunk. 7/11 pizza is not good. And is still better. In fact I almost never do reviews. The reason I did is because I was prompted by Google on my phone. So the time of night just happened to be when I was checking notifications. Not a marker of if I was drinking. I completely stand behind my original review. It's 2 months later and 9 am. So I'm probably still drunk. Whatever you need to try and invalidate my review. Attached is a picture of your restaurant description. Claiming some Detroit style. If you can respond to reviews on Google you can get them to put an accurate description online.

Awful pizza. Tomato paste is a sauce starter. Not the sauce. I should have gone to 7/11. They have better pizza. I should have known it was awful when all of Market Days had exited a d the place was still empty... And absolutely no Detroit style. Don't besmirch Detroit's good name. I'm from the area. And this is not Detroit...

Good pizza, got the grandma style. It was sweet and light, looked pretty and smelled good. My wife told me such a story about it. It was about a Facebook group where they talked about it and how the owners go above and beyond with the service. I thought that was nice, but what about the pizza? Fast forward about one week later and we order it on a Sunday night. It smells great in the car. Location right by the train. Apparently a young guy in there said it was his third time this week and he goes for the $3.99 slice. She thought that was weird but I don’t think she remembers not knowing how to cook and beyond young and weird. Also, she said there were no decorations. Apparently they own the convenience store next door. It used to be a breakfast place if I remember right. So many breakfast places in Lakeview. Either way, I put hot honey on it when I ate it and had some sparkling water. It tasted good and I’m looking forward to leftovers. They come in slices, 6 or 8 slice pizzas. I thought the presentation was...
