Used to love Dimo's. They stocked a sparkling rose that I really enjoyed and I was fond of eating pizza at the bar while a particular bartender was working.
Unfortunately, Dimo's has really gone downhill the past few months. They stopped stocking the rose that I enjoyed, which really wouldn't have been a big deal except the red-haired manager absolutely tried to gaslight me when I inquired about it. "I don't know what you're talking about, we've never carried a wine by that name".
I stopped going at much when my favorite bartender stopped working there. The red-haired manager was cruel or passive-aggressive to them often enough that I almost said something. It was really awkward to have to witness and was only assuaged by the bartenders amazing disposition and ability to bring the atmosphere right back up.
The culmination of my distaste occurred shortly after Dimo's moved their opening time from 10am to 11am. Which is a fine thing to do, except their hours listed on Google and posted on their shop exterior still stated 10am. So, one Saturday morning when I stopped by to grab wine for brunch, I was really confused why the front door was locked. It was 10:15am and Google and their signage stated that they opened fifteen minutes ago. I tried another door but it was locked, too. The lights are on and the chairs are down. When the red-haired manager comes out of the kitchen, she sees me and I point to the door and shrug questioningly. Her response was to purse her lips and walk back in to the kitchen.
It was several weeks before they updated their hours on Google. As of this posting, their shop exterior still lists 10am. Maybe you think this review is "extra" but I think that an organization that promotes toxic managers should...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible service and zero respect for people! I’m a DoorDash driver and came here to pick up an order. At the counter, they told me it would be ready in 15 minutes — but I ended up waiting 50 minutes! During that time, I personally walked up to them several times asking about the order. They saw me sitting there, clearly waiting, yet no one ever came up to me or told me the truth. Every time I asked, they kept repeating the same lies: “it’s ready now,” “just one more minute,” when in reality the food wasn’t even being prepared yet!
I wasted almost an entire hour just sitting there while they handed out other orders and ignored me completely. No apology, no explanation — just total indifference. If they had told me the truth from the start, I would have canceled the order and saved my time. Instead, I got false promises and dishonesty.
This is by far the worst treatment I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant. I will never come back here again and I don’t recommend this place to anyone. If you get a DoorDash order from this location — decline it immediately, unless you want to waste your time and patience...
Read moreI really liked the Dimo in lakeview, I have to say, the pizza here is better than the ones in lakeview. also, finally a pizza by the slice place in lincoln square. I tried the pep 2.0 and the sausage slice.
sausage: crispy and soft airy crust. the sause is flavorful, not too sweet but has a good tomato taste to it. just the right amount of cheese and sauce. the sausage is fairly seasoned yet not overwhelming. it was really enjoyable. but again, I'm more of a sausage fan in general lol
pep 2.0: it's like if you put melted vanilla ice cream on a pizza. not a fan. I have had pizza with spicy honey before and liked it, but this combination is not the same. the ricotta cheese while not sweet, but because the pizza itself is drenched in honey, it end up tasting like melted vanila ice cream. the honey somehow has a vanilla flavor; it overwhelms the sauce, the pepperoni, and all other seasoning on the pizza. quite a nightmare to eat lol and I enjoyed pineapple on pizza once so u know this is crossing multiple lines. lol ironic bc we were talking about how can anyone mess up...
