I came here tonight hoping for a better service experience. While I appreciate the bartender for supplying a water and offering a charging port for my phone, my partner and I were kicked out with no notice as to why. We were just sitting in the corner, drinking a pineapple juice.
Edited for clarification, because I would want it if looking to visit: bartender was a middle aged woman with blonde hair. My partner and I are both LGBT+ and dressed in relatively nice clothing, nothing exposing or overdone. We were both sober and quiet. We were not belligerent or disrespectful in any manner and sat together watching some other patrons playing pool without speaking to anyone besides amongst ourselves. No inappropriate or uncalled-for behavior, as we are both people who prefer keeping to ourselves when possible. Business was slow, and we were not bothering anyone nor notified by anyone that our behavior was bothering them.
Additional edit, following owner's response below: WOW! They weren't kidding when they said the owners are quick to snap and bite back. Yikes. We purchased a pineapple juice from the bar, leaving a dollar tip on a 2 dollar tab (totaling 3 dollars). We did plan to buy an additional but were kicked out before we did so. In addition, the owner did not ask any other individuals in the bar to leave nor did they close up after we left at barely 12:30 (they close at 1/2, depending on the night). I'm impressed that business owners think it's okay to lie on reviews instead of accepting relatively neutral feedback. I will not be returning here, nor do I recommend a visit if you are a tourist/someone new to the space. I've dropped the review to 1 star as a result of the reaction from the owner on feedback (sadly, you've made your atmosphere a negative experience for...
Read moreWeirdest experience I’ve ever had. All our ids were taken from us and brought behind the bar and checked under a comically large desk lamp, for many minutes. Once we were approved to continue to enter the bar we were treated pretty rudely by the bartender. Yelled at us to keep our voices down, even tho we were the only ones in the bar and yelled to not touch the pool table.
*editing since the owners reply… you have no idea when we came, this review is from a visit many moons ago, not from even a Friday. Y’all are truly the most combative and hilarious business owners, replying to every single negative review like your absolute life depends on it. People - please go to Drink n Ink around the corner, you will have a much more...
Read moreDriftwood is my favorite dive in Uptown! The owners, Robin and George, are lovely. Their service is efficient, and while they don't have anything on tap, their choice of cans an bottles is plenty! Make it fun with a Mystery Shot for just $3.50 (as of right now)! The best part about Driftwood (besides Robin and George of course) is the variety of bar games they have! Your choice between dollar pool, free darts or ringing the bull. Cant forget about Touch Tunes!! If you want a laid back night with some fun- stop...
