I’ve visited Geraldine’s three times now and have found that I actually do enjoy it. Unlike Jerry’s from which it originated, the menu is simple and precise. The coffee tends to be tasty and well put together. I’ve had two breakfast items, an egg burger type thing that oozed yolk and avocado mash, and a chicken and biscuits plate with too much gravy. They’re very tasty but not the right combo of savory for me. They go heavy on the sauces and extra items like pickled onions and marmelade, and it’s always a step too far for my taste. Still, I love the outdoor seating, the location, the interior, and it’s a great chill spot to have my morning coffee so I’ll be happy to keep coming back.
Last note: this is not a French café and nobody here speaks French. I thought because of the name Geraldine’s that they were going for a French style but they had no idea that Geraldine’s sounded like a French name and made faces at me when I...
Read moreI live in the area and have been in many times over the years. The pastries here are very good, as well as the breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, I have never had a good coffee from Geraldines. Their coffees are wildly inconsistent, and I have gotten different answers from different baristas on the amount of milk to espresso. It seems that their iced lattes only get a single oz of espresso regardless of size, and they essentially taste like coffee milk. I finally wrote a review today because I asked for a drink with no ice (didn't want it to melt before I got home) and the baristas chose to fill it completely to the top with milk. So my 12oz latte ended up being 11oz of milk. Personally, I feel a cafe can have amazing food, but if you can't have an equally good coffee with it there's no point. This cafe definitely needs some updated training for...
Read moreCramped, servers bustling by me as I waited FORTY minutes for a sandwich to go. I asked for gluten free bread. It was repeated several times. It finally came with a bucket of undercooked potatoes and when I opened my sandwich to eat it, I discovered the bread was curiously not unlike a regular bun with sesame seeds. I took it back in and asked them to double check for me to make sure it was gluten free. It was manhandled by a couple of people who insisted yes, it was gluten free. It messed up my stomach and I discovered what their GF bread actually looks like- they definitely gave me regular bread (which was so delicious it was too good to be true) and this is DANGEROUS for those with Celiac and Chrons and sensitivities, to lie because you don't feel like remaking it or giving me my money...
