Service: Not so great from the initial contact. Ordered 14” pepperoni to pick up over the phone. Put on hold twice. Was told 20 minutes at 730. That’s fine. It’s a 10 min walk from my place so I timed it to get there right at 20 min. It was slightly busy inside. I gave them my info and was expecting to be asked for payment, but that was not the case. I tried to get attention so I could pay while waiting, but the counter person went to the back for a few minutes. Staff was stressed and snapping at each other. Counter customers were upset about the wait just for a quick slice to go. I waited an additional 10 minutes for my pick up and then was asked what I was waiting for. Repeated my order. It was ready the entire time, boxed up on the oven in back with the others. They did offer a drink for my wait. That was nice. Didn’t take them up on it though.
Food: Since I kinda timed it so I could get a pizza right out of the oven, and that didn’t happen, I was a bit upset. It was good. A little cold by the time I got home. Meaning the cheese got a little rubbery. The dough seemed slightly undercooked. I like NY style. I want the “toppings” on top. I really do not understand why Chicago needs to throw everything under the cheese. Pepperoni with a crisp edge is needed on this. Next time I may ask if that’s possible, but this does not seem like the place that takes kindly to special requests.
Will I return? Probably. Eventually. Decent price and I like pizza. Maybe on a Tuesday when they are not...
Read moreI don't typically write reviews, but I recently opened a business in Uptown and Gigio's is right up the street. I am impressed with how simply delicious this pizza has been. I have probably been to Gigio's 20 times in the last 6~ months and it never disappoints. I've mostly had their pizza, but I've also tried other sides and their burger which is pretty solid. I asked them to add a fried egg to my burger once, and although they don't typically "do that" Ray made it happen (I prefer my burgers with an egg on top) and it was delicious. ((I went back another time, and they REFUSED to add a fried egg, the hispanic lady. She was not happy when I told her someone else had done it for me before and insisted THEY DON'T do that there.)) ((She ended up doing it anyway and it was great. LOL))
Although some of the reviews are correct, the customer service is questionable (SOMEDAYS, depending who's working) it's part of the experience. I don't mind it, it seems like its family run or a close knit group of people. They constantly bicker, and argue with each other which I find more comforting and realistic than uptight, pretentious places who fake smiles all day long. I don't care that they're not always the nicest or sweetest people, I care that their food is ALWAYS solid, and delicious. I've been at every time of the day and it's...
Read moreGigios is amazing NewYork style Pizza. I've had NY Style Pizza in Chicago before, but none even came close to Gigios(I'd even adopt Gigios AS chicago Pizza if I could! Nothing I've had in Chicago beats it). Automatically made the top of my list with my first bite. Expect a floppy slice (which is good). You can't expect a pizza to be stiff and firm when it's carrying all that flavor. I will 100% recommend this place to anyone who asks me for a good pizza place. Customer Service: Great, attentive, respectful, quick & friendly. Ambiance: Chill a small eating place, but the vibes are great. It is one of the many neighbor gems in the area. PROTIP: If there's a concert that night, you might benefit from getting your slice early in the evening, before 8 pm, as after the concerts are over, it could be difficult to get a seat. But even then! The service was professional, great & friendly, they know how to deal with large crowds. Remember to Tip! Note to the owners: Do NOT change your Recipe. Mozzarella sticks were also 👌 Sausage, Pepperoni 🔥. Slices are bigger...
