I was really excited to return to this spot after a pleasant first visit, but unfortunately, my second experience was very disappointing. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha and my boyfriend got a churro latte. Both drinks were poorly made. My matcha was extremely thick, grainy, and undrinkable, while his latte had an overwhelmingly salty flavor that wasn’t described anywhere on the menu.
We kindly brought the drinks back (still full) and explained that they didn’t taste right. Instead of being met with understanding, a male barista in the back loudly and rudely questioned us, saying he “doubted” both drinks could taste bad. The female barista was more composed and acknowledged the milk might’ve been bad. She offered to remake my boyfriend’s drink for free, but I was told I’d have to pay again for a new one, even though I had barely touched the original.
While she remade one drink, the male barista continued making unkind comments loud enough for us to hear. I paid $16 for drinks we couldn’t enjoy and left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
I believe in supporting new local spots, but customers should never be made to feel like a burden for politely expressing a concern especially when the product clearly missed the mark. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for others...
Read moreI love the tiramisu latte here, but I’m really confused about the pricing and the lack of transparency.
I’ve noticed they don’t have prices listed for any of the drinks on the menu board in the shop, so I was a bit shocked to find out that the tiramisu latte has recently gone up to $10 (with tax) for a 20oz drink. Most of their latte prices have increased quite a bit which, while understandable, should still be listed for customers to see before ordering.
As many others have noted, the owner tends to be moody and rude. The first few times I went in, he was so friendly, but in my past few visits, I’ve seen him treat customers so coldly— as if they’re bothering him by ordering a drink and supporting his shop.
On a positive note, the other barista who helps prepare the orders has always been...
Read moreHere’s the thing: the coffee is really good but you’re paying $8+ for it so it should be as expected.
The service and atmosphere is what’s dropping my rating. You walk in and the workers say nothing to you. You walk up to the counter and all they say is “what can I get for you.” They make your coffee, say your name, and you leave. No niceties, no “how are you?” “Thank you” etc. They were not friendly and acted like it was a chore to make coffee for you.
Then the atmosphere which is very unwelcoming. A ton of signs yelling at you “NO LEANING ON THE COUNTER” “NO WIFI” “NO DOGS.” There’s no seating inside even though there’s space for a couple tables. It’s like if they want you to get in and out as fast as you can.
There’s tons of coffee shops in Lake View and I would...
