Ms. Egg Roll — Restaurant in Lake View Township

Whatever you do, despite its low prices, don't eat at this restaurant --unless off course you don't mind eating from a place that has been found to be infested with cockroaches multiple times, among other things.

In the start of 2018, for more than a month, this restaurant was closed when the City's Department of Health inspected it and found over 200 cockroaches there --some of which were dead and found on top of pans and other cooking ware. Reading the inspection report made my skin crawl. The restaurant manager and owner placed a sign on the door indicating that the staff were "on vacation," as opposed to admit wrongdoing and promising to customers to never fail an inspection again.

According to a report from the City's website for Restaurant and Food Service Inspection Reports, this place has failed inspections a bunch of time for cleanliness-oriented issues. If you're doubtful, google "Chicago Restaurant and Food Service Inspection Reports" and find out. you might have to do some digging. Reader discretion is advised.

I am so upset and disappointed. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid, and everything used to be really good. Unfortunately, the past couple years it has really started to go downhill. A couple of the only things that we could still eat from there were the crab sticks with cheese and the sweet and sour chicken, however, this time, it was totally inedible. The supposed crab sticks weren’t even the right thing, and I have no idea what they are, but, beyond that, they were so burned and greasy that they weren’t even edible had they been the right thing. The chicken was just weird, oily/greasy, not cooked properly, not breaded properly, and limp, not crispy at all. I tried to eat one and it tasted terrible, like burnt, bitter, oily chicken. The rice wasn’t even right, and it’s just plain rice! I am so extremely disappointed that it has gotten this bad, and I’m baffled at how they have raised their prices so high for inedible food! After eating food from this place, I ended up getting food poisoning, which made me painfully sick for days. Overall, the food is neither expensive nor cheap. It can, however, cause Diarrhea and queasiness, and it doesn't even taste that good. When I went there, the place was not clean, although the staff was friendly. Before going in, I had looked up this place's inspections, given the other reviews, and learned that the city had found many cockroaches earlier this month, February 2021. I chose to overlook this fact and decided to order, trying to give this place a chance and the benefit of the doubt. It turns out that I had made the wrong decision ended up causing myself a lot of pain and Diarrhea from getting food poisoning, over food that was not even delicious.
