I’ve been waiting patiently for Oak and Honey to open! From the facade to the interior of Oak and Honey the atmosphere is totally my vibe. The staff members (especially my server Sharron) were knowledgeable of the background and mission of Oak and Honey which gave a very family like presence, which is impressive just for being open 6 days. I learned all the bread is made in house! So cool. I had two x two and the pancakes! The two came with eggs, a side of potatoes and a choice of meat. I would come back solely for the potatoes. They were my favorite item I had. I chose bacon as my meat as my meat. , I am a huge bacon snob and unfortunately the bacon here did not meet my standards and I do not recommend. The bacon was thinly cut and not full of flavor. I prefer bacon to be butcher cut and on the thicker side. The pancakes were perfect and I def recommend giving them a try. I have high hopes for Oak and Honey and look forward coming back to try the lunch, & dinner menu. 9/25: I came back for a second visit and had Oak and Honey’s breakfast sandwich on their sour dough bread with pork sausage. Absolutely delicious! I recommend giving it a try. Thank you Oak and Honey 🍯 5/30/25: UPDATE!!!!! Oak and Honey updated their bacon to my absolute favorite local bacon, Jone’s Dairy Farm bacon!!! Thank you!!!!

Oak and Honey is a must stop location that features delicious drinks, entrees, and desserts! I am still thinking about their homemade sourdough and fresh pies and it has been over a month since I visited. My group was welcomed right when we walked through the door and the staff made us feel right at home. Our server was attentive to our needs and helped throughout the entire dining experience. We learned that everything is made in house and includes a rotation of seasonal dishes based on what is available. I love how eco-friendly and sustainable Oak and Honey is for this reason and more. When our food came out, the chef hand delivered our plates to the table giving a brief description of each of our dishes. A member of our party is a certified picky eater and she absolutely loved her meal. She had pancakes and bacon, which she raved about the entire drive home. I had the breakfast sandwich with a side of rosemary potatoes. My fiance enjoyed the cinnamon roll french toast. The ambiance was immaculate! The artwork lining the walls paired nicely with the vibes of this midwest and Chicago neighborhood restaurant. Whether you are looking for a coffee clutch, a brunch with your family, or a dinner & drinks with friends, Oak and Honey has it all! I cannot wait to visit again the next time I am in Chicago.

Met up here with a friend while I was in town, since it was halfway between us both and was a new spot. I had the braised beef and he got the duck. I thought the food and presentation was excellent, and was something you would find at a fine-dining establishment rather than a high-traffic spot in Lakeview. The atmosphere looked cozy inside, but I was seated outside on account of the weather. What I enjoyed most about my meal was that it was not too marbled, and that it fell apart when eaten. I really didn't need to use my fork. The potatoes were well seasoned too, and complemented the dish well. I plan on returning in the future, and I wish the establishment well. It has a lot of ambitious dishes, but the scope of the menu seems small enough that it should be manageable without impacting quality. They have a lot of competition in the area, but they were able to fill up seating when I was there on a Friday night. I plan on returning in the future when I'm in the area.

I’ve given Oak and Honey three chances, but each visit has been more disappointing than the last. I first heard about the basil honey pie from a post on Lakeview Uncensored, and the picture was so perfect, I knew I had to try it. On my first visit, they hadn’t received their pies yet, so I left empty-handed. The second time, they finally had the pies, and I was excited to order a slice. However, what I received looked nothing AT ALL like the stunning image online. The pie was skimpy on filling, and the 'honeycomb' topping looked like bright yellow wax candy—not the rich, burnt juicy honeycomb that covered the entire pie in the picture. While the flavor was decent, it lacked depth, and the presentation was completely off from the posted picture on Facebook.

The third visit is where things went from disappointing to outright unacceptable. My boyfriend ordered a slice of pizza, and I wanted to grab dinner to go. I planned on ordering the beef carpaccio and a slice of pumpkin pie. When I tried to place a to-go order, the staff flat-out refused and were quite rude about it. I was shocked and confused—why would they refuse service to a paying customer? My partner already had his meal, so we couldn’t stay to dine in. I asked five times if they were really refusing to let me take my order to go, and they kept saying no, claiming it was because of a bad review someone had left. Honestly, I was baffled. Refusing service over a bad review? That’s not just shortsighted—it’s terrible customer service.

I had high hopes for Oak and Honey, but they’ve clearly lost sight of what matters most decent customer service. Ironically, their fear of bad reviews led me to leave this one. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but after that experience, I felt obligated specially after leaving I walked down the street to Crisp, where I was greeted with big smiles and friendly hellos, and placing a to-go order was hassle-free, exactly what I should’ve experienced at Oak and Honey.

Until they fix their customer service and add some actual filling to that basil honey pie, I cannot...

Never again. Went for an underwhelming, overpriced brunch shortly after they opened several months ago (had the Monte Cristo and it wasn't even served with jam or syrup). Gave a little grace and decided to return for dinner recently during a Dine Out weekend. It's obvious the owners deliberately understaff this place because neither the servers nor the kitchen staff were equipped to handle the obvious crowd they planned for given the tables set up outside. 20 minute wait for an overpriced, overwatered cocktail. Another hour wait for ONE of our dishes to come out just to be severely undercooked (risotto was raw and crunchy). Notified the server who took it back only to return 10 minutes later and ask if he should put in another order or what we wanted to do??? Meanwhile husband's food still wasn't even close to coming out. We asked how much longer the wait was for his food before deciding, he said he'd check. Instead came back with a manager (?) who did offer to comp the whole meal (literally base offering at this point), but when we asked when my husband's food should be expected she didn't know either. Waiting over an hour and a half after ordering at this point. We asked them to just box up his food and nix mine since we didn't want to wait for another undercooked risotto, only for them to come back and tell him that his dinner WASN'T EVEN COMING. So they want the points for "comping" a meal they didn't even serve to us as a bribe not to write an honest review. So we got 2 free, poor drinks for it and wasted our entire Saturday evening. This is what people who've never eaten anywhere with actual great food and service think qualifies as a...

Food is awesome. we loved every bite of it. but we certainly won't be back for weekend brunch again. it took 18 mins to get my black coffee. and another 19mins to get waiter's attention to grab the check. this long wait time impact your table turn rate, customer satisfaction, and ultimately your revenue. We will try weekdays and see how it goes. Breaking down the reason for slow service since i got nearly 40mins to sit around at the place.

no one is being lazy but the servant is not attentative, prioritized the wrong things, wrong table, and overwhelmed by the demand. nice guy but need some help to streamline the tasks. owners are working on picking up dirty plates and folding napkins rather than observing customers' needs and identify their complaints and observe restaurant workflows to find area for improvement. you are trying to help but not managing the place? or u r not the owner? just a relative? the layout of the restaurant really restricts the efficiency of waiters. The place is super deep, bar is all the way upfront, kitchen is all the way in the back (of course), food ticket is in the middle but cashier machine is all the way in the back?. I've observed at least 3 times, waiter/waitress waiting at the ticketing machine in the middle while the owner is folding utensil and napkins. You better have gym shoes ready to work a busy weekend shift here. suggestions, consider add a dedicated drink boy who does nothing but sending drink orders during rush hours/days. this will help your high paying waiter to pay attention to the customer needs and take care more tables attentively.

We love your food and will...
