Ordered uber eats and the food was tasty/I enjoyed the flavor but my first thought was that it was not authentic. If I order from an Asian restaurant and the rice is as small as a ramekin of sauce, something’s wrong. I’m Puerto Rican and my partner is Filipino (meaning: we eat rice!) and we were blown away by the 4 tablespoons of rice we were given and the fact that someone thought that that portion was sufficient for the cuisine. The meat is served in sauces, you need the startch. You never see that when you order elsewhere. I also am baffled by huge chunks of celery and carrots in the kung pao chicken. It’s not thanksgiving stuffing or a pot roast. It did have whole peanuts but Mushrooms? Bell peppers? Chili? It’s important to do the research on the cuisine.

Peking Chinese Kitchen is fine. If you're looking for an American-Chinese place, this is an option. The potstickers were fine. Not my favorite, but not bad. The combo meals come with rice. GrubHub didn't specify so it was impossible to tell. The general tsos was dry. Not as saucy as I'd like and the chicken was very over cooked and tough to chew. Overall, it was edible, but there are much better American Chinese places nearby.

First time here and was surprised by the stuff not greeting me back!!! we ordered one meal to try (boneless spare ribs) it was served as a dish of rice with boneless pork next to a wonton soup… honestly speaking; soup was served warm not hot enough and almost tasteless! when it comes to rice and boneless pork it was very hard to chew and won’t do it again.

Peking Chinese Kitchen (Nov. 4, 2022)

This is a revisit after Dec 2021. Don’t think I reviewed this place my previous time here. Came here specifically to re-taste the Egg Foo Young enjoyed about a year ago Dec. 2021.

Traveled the morning from Milwaukee to Chicago via Flixbus (Decent ride, inexpensive price, a lot of open seats still available.). Arrived around 11:15 a.m. Did some “chores” - Bought caramel corn from “Nuts on Clark” located in Union Station, and visited Luke’s Italian Beef on Jackson Blvd. - then took the #22 bus to get to this eatery. Did not know there was no stop where I expected it to be, so ended up taking the “L” train back to the station closest to the eatery. Always unexpected journeys when you travel cheap.

The location is unassuming. Right across the store is construction of some high rise started over a year ago, and looks like it will continue on for a few more years before its completion. The place was relatively dark and there were several tables and chairs for dine-in. Overall, the place feels old. Behind the counter is the kitchen and the glorious aroma of the cooking food will drift into the dining area. The proprietors speak Mandarin, which can be advantageous for Mandarin speakers. I have seen many menus while researching cheap Chinese food places, and this place is a definite bargain. The lunch specials are well priced, most under $9 (tax included) and come with a 12 oz canned drink from the Pepsi family.

The pork Egg Foo Young lunch special was cooked on the spot and arrived quickly with two patties, a side of fried rice and a container of warm gravy. The Egg Foo Young was fine, slightly modified from the Cantonese version using bean sprouts, and uses cabbage as its base instead. The pork is diced Chinese BBQ pork, which adds a sweet flavor to the dish. The GEM is the gravy. Previously, it was a similar gravy but with heavy elements of garlic in it. While good, it had something missing. This time, the garlic flavoring is no longer pronounced, and whatever the store uses as its ingredients made it literally perfect. I am sure this gravy is also used to cook many of the other items offered in the menu, and this will likely make the taste of those dishes spectacular as well. If I were to reside close to this place in Chicago, I’ll likely eat here 5 out of 7 days a week. This place is likely the best Chinese “fast food” place I’ve eaten at just based on the taste of the grave itself. In case you are wondering, I am of Chinese origin from South East Asia.

My overall rating is 5 out of 5 stars. Can’t wait to get back to Chicago and enjoy the food again. It is definitely a must-try place. Do tune your taste buds a bit, understanding that this is aChinese Fast Food...

Ref: Order Was recommended to try from by two friends, Greg and Burt who are in love, with Peking. We ordered the egg rolls, dumplings, and a couple entrees with rice and noodles. The rolls were good and Noodles were worth holding on to, and the rest was just okay.. Without a Cold "Coca-Cola", to fizzz along the wayy. An unprecedented misfortune that will hurts & stay. Tis' the season to be grateful for the things you're given Eating these items without a "coke" should be forbidden. the bag was empty for a thirst needed quenching accountability is everything, and Peking needs a benching. Pls be transparent in these trying times, The cokes was missing in the...
