Randall’s Pub — Restaurant in Lake View Township

My husband and I were looking for a place in the neighborhood to go for a relaxing Sunday afternoon cocktail. We'd both heard about Randall's and had been there once when it was Parlor a few years ago. So we decided to give it a try. Well, I'm glad we did. They have a great beer and cocktail list, the bartender was really friendly (always a sign of a good bar) and so were the patrons. It was really telling also that they have a board on the wall listing what their regulars usually order, a sign that they value and recognize people who come in often. Some bars just serve you and give you your check. But I prefer to go to places that treat you like your business is important. Oh, and the most important part. We both ordered mixed drinks. I ordered a hurricane and my husband ordered a manhattan. They were well-made, not too strong but not too weak. We enjoyed the place so much that we went for second round, when we'd only planned one. Really chill place with amazing drinks. We played on the shuffle board table which was pretty new, there were board games we’ll try playing next time. I’m definitely not a Malort drinker but tried my boyfriend’s Malort highball and I was delightfully impressed, it was delicious. Chicago Sazerac was also a well made drink I recommend. I really appreciate how this bar feels so warm and welcoming, we need more neighborhood bars like this that are owned by people in the neighborhood, the care and attention to detail is evident. Randall’s might be the friendliest bar I have ever been to (I am an esteemed, self appointed dive bar scholar). Stopped by to catch game 7 (RIP Oilers) and was happily surprised to find that Juan has quickly cultivated an immaculate cheers vibe on the Northside.
