It’s quite pricy, though the food is delicious! It’s a romantic, trendy atmosphere with a grand piano in the corner. The place is smaller than I expected with a nice bar, 4-6 high tops, a few booths and 3-4 small tables. Thus, seating is limited. We were fortunate to get in without a reservation, however I highly recommend making a reservation and plan to in the future.
We observed this place to be more of a cocktail bar, at least the night we were there. Looking around we only saw on other table that had ordered food. I was not particularly fond of the cocktails and believe the prices are high for the quality of the drink.
We chose the chili shrimp to start with for our appetizer. My friend is not a shrimp fan and for the first time I had to share with him! The title is slightly deceiving because it does not taste like chili. The sauce, however it’s made, is better than words I have to describe it. $14.99 and well worth the price! Though I certainly would be happier with a bigger portion.
Neither my friend nor I had ever heard of Barramundi and we actually though it was going to be a sort of steak given the “filet” description. In case, like us, you’ve never heard of this dish, it is a white fish. Most importantly, the Barramundi is outstanding! Again, the sauce was impeccable and I wish I had the recipe. It’s definitely a unique dish that’s not often served. Vincent’s is perfection.
Our server was kind but not too knowledgeable about the menu. She couldn’t really answer our questions but was able to describe the dishes. Perhaps because of the cocktail bar vibe, though I’d definitely recommend some more training about the food.
Overall, we both thoroughly enjoyed the place and food. For us, the prices make it more of a special evening type of restaurant. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique menu and...
Read moreExtremely disappointing given all the hype this place has received. I'm a firm believer that if a meal is going to be over $200, I shouldn't be able to make it at home; it should feel special and one-of-a-kind. This was not the case. Decor felt flat and drab, paint spots on the wall poorly covering up the wiring of the speakers, and the sheer fabric hanging from the ceiling was collecting a ton of dirt and dead bugs underneath the skylight (which we were sitting directly under, so that made me uneasy). Ordered cocktails (gin and tonic with fruit situation, good, but again, I could make it at home), and appetizers (cheese board which was a "daily selection," and when the server brought it to the table, did not tell us what the cheeses were). Server went missing for a while and returned to get our food order. Started with the pea-lotes (no flavor whatsoever, it was just peas in tea water with a sprinkling of cheese) and the broccoli (it felt like there was dirt/grit in the florets), entrees were the aged sirloin pasta (it was under-seasoned shredded beef with spicy tomato sauce over over-seasoned pasta, again, something I can make /better/ at home) and the halibut (under-seasoned fish in an under-seasoned asparagus puree, was not given a spoon to eat the puree). I feel like there is more to this that I'm missing, but honestly it was so forgettable when it wasn't really underwhelming. I really wanted to like this place. I know that they once had a Bib Gourmand, and I hope they get back to that place one day. But today was...
Read moreFour of us recently went to brunch at Vincent thinking we’d have a quaint atmosphere and some good food. The situation could not have been farther from that. I’ll start by saying our server did a great job even though she was clearly servicing too many tables due to understaffing. No complaints with her. However, about 30 minutes into our meal a pianist/singer started crooning. He and the piano were amplified with microphones. The sound was too loud - average 86 decibels. We could not hear or talk to one another. The room was now full of customers that all raised their voices even higher. The room has all hard surfaces and a metal ceiling. The sound level ruined our time together. I told the manager, to turn down the volume and to turn off the amplification, so that we could stand our time in the restaurant. He said he was working on it, but could not turn off the speakers as the owner demands it is on. I would not return to this restaurant if they have any live, amplified music. The time would have been much better had there been soft piano music in the background and maybe a song or two. It was not a concert venue, nor was it advertised to be there. Lastly, the food was average. Quiche was small in size and not very filled with stated ingredients. The salmon egg scramble I had was a bit dry and had a small portion of salmon. The drinks were good, but on the expensive side. So, overall based on this experience, we probably...
