Sovereign Liquors — Restaurant in Lake View Township

This is a little dive bar that’s better than nothing. If you’re looking for a place that employs 1 bartender, that also acts as the bar back and serves bottled beer, wine, liquor, have glasses/coasters and 2 bathrooms and located on the west side of Broadway between Granville and Rosemont, then this place is the spot I recommend, for that particular area of Chicago. They do not accept credit, debit, Venmo or I.O.U’s. They also don’t poor generous shots. Parking is decent to bad depending on the time. This place could use a power wash inside and out....

The Sovereign has remained my favorite bar in Chicago for seven years running. Great service, simple, but welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place you can go to just hang out and relax after a long day. Or to invite friends to toward the end of the night! Lots of dive/local bars seem the same to me, but the Sovereign stands out. Very unsafe for women, especially young women. There will be men imploring you to compromise yourself. Let alone the mark up on the ATM after you've been extorted . Don't get it twisted. As a woman you the last care as management is concerned. Unsafe for women. There isn't even a way to lock the bathroom door. Harassment doesn't get the blame for the regulars.
