We went there for my friend's 32nd birthday. The bar hosts karaoke; although I'm not sure if it's everyday or only on Saturday nights.
The place is pretty small and the tables fill up quickly if people are in groups. By the time we arrived, which was around 10:30/11 pm, the place was packed and every seat was taken, so my group made space for themselves in the back. The bartenders/owners were totally fine with that; they even set up a table for us, albeit without chairs, but we had something to put our our coats & purses/bags on.
I give the place 3 stars, 1 - because the song binder was poorly organized. I've been to a few karaoke places in the past and they usually have songs/artists in alpha order & by genre, but this place only had the songs in alpha order, which for a person like myself who never knows/remembers song titles, this is a recipe for failure, lol. They also didn't seem to have much hip hop or r'n'b, so get ready for a long night of soft rock, alternative, and Disney songs. Had I found a song I knew, i would've sang, but I didn't, so I couldn't. 2 - the karaoke DJ seemed very controlling and particular. If there was a sung by 2 different artists (and therefore 2 different renditions), he won't let you sing it "again." Given how late we'd gotten there, we heard a lot of nos, so there was much searching for new music and it was very irritating to my group to be so limited. 3 - I heard that the drinks were cheap (i didn't get one that night), but they charged $2 for a bottle of water! That just seemed extravagant to me, lol. On top of that, if you want to pay with a card, there's a $10 min, so be sure to bring cash.
It was an okay experience if you're looking for a cheap night out. I'd go back again, but with lower...
Read moreMy friends and I sang Christmas Carols here last night as we did last year as well and everyone was welcome with open arms except for one of our guests who we’d invited out to watch us perform. Besides those of us singing, this guest was the only African American person present in the establishment. The owner singled out this guest and questioned him asking why he was there, who in particular (by name) was he there for, proceeded to confirm with members of our singing group and STILL told our guest that the event was private and that he had to leave the establishment. This was very heartbreaking as we were only there to spread love and cheer and it ended up being a completely different experience. We will never be performing or giving our service to this establishment again. Unfortunately, many of the regulars seemed unbothered by the behavior of the owner. So unless you, as a person of color, are entering the bar with people she is familiar with, there is a very high chance she will...
Read morePronounced "spinners", this unassuming little bar is a diamond in the rough. Don't be fooled by the lack of a sign, or the never-painted front door; the clientele and staff are good as gold, and the beer is just as tasty here as anywhere else. The KJ on karaoke nights sings better than most of us, there's a new friend to be made no matter your age, hobbies, or level of sobriety, and there are dart boards in the back. They take cash and credit, and offer no food; they do encourage bringing your own...
