Found my new favorite thai food spot in Chicago!📍Green Leaf Thai in Lincoln Square 😍 (ad) #chicagothaifood #lincolnsquarechicago #chicagofood #chicagorestaurants #chicagoeats

Well this used to be another restaurant called Thai Oscar that was now closed and went out of business which became Green Leaf Thai. My friend just picked me up from my donating blood and I offered him dinner out since I didn't want to pay for Uber after donating blood and didn't bring my cars. Anyways the Thai food was a meh ok if not subpar. Such a disappointment. The Thai ice tea was bland if not that sweet. My friend ordered a hibiscus beverage that he said was ok. The steam shrimp shumai did not have a wow taste to it but it wasn't bad. The chicken Tom kha soup needs some improvement as the chicken they cooked was dry next to the presentation of using a dangerous heating contraption to keep the soup hot. I say this because it has a burner and if someone is clumsy or if you have children dining in here and accidentally touch or knock it off it can case a hazardous fire or lawsuit. The main dishes which we both ordered was not that impressive. The pad prik felt like eating taco bell ground beef with no zest to it. I've tasted better pad prik at other Thai restaurants in Chicago, suburbs and in Thailand. My friends seafood lard nar was watery than creamy and had a really funky seafood smell. He even had to order Thai rice to fill his dish to satisfy. We ordered a banana egg roll with honey for dessert and also was ok but no big deal or excitement. All in all they need to improve as both of us was not impressed and neither was I compared to Thai Oscar.

Disappointing takeout experience to say the least. The Sai Oua was fine, it’s just sliced sausage though so it’s not too possible to go wrong there. I also ordered Pad See-iew, and maybe I’m too picky but the wide rice noodles are the heart of the dish for me - the texture and the way they caramelize a bit is the best part. Instead for some reason the restaurant substituted thin rice noodles, didn’t tell me, and it was really just not the same. I would rather be given the chance to change my order than receive something that isn’t what I ordered. The thin noodles stuck together in clumps, the flavor was ok but very inconsistent across the dish. As others have pointed out, the portion size here is not very generous for the cost which I wouldn’t even think about if the food was quality, but it wasn’t so it can’t be explained away by “average food but you get a ton!!”, there were only a few pieces of vegetable (you can see it all in the photo). The tofu was acceptable but only that, it completely lacked the flavor of the dish. I don’t think I will give this place another chance until I’ve tried more options in Lincoln Square or indoor dining is back to normal. I definitely can’t recommend and won’t be ordering the Pad See-iew again unless the restaurant confirms that is not how it’s normally made, and tonight was a fluke. I came on a friend’s recommendation so maybe it was an off night :(

Terrible customer service. Ordered combination fried rice and the beef was cooked terribly could barely chew it. After expressing our displeasure with the food they said nothing and STILL charged it even though the plate was almost intact. No apologies no words whatsoever. The servers and staff in general are all rude and lack basic social skills. They still chose to argue with us in front of everyone else over THEIR mistake and they charged it! We’ve been coming here for over 2 years because of some items on the menu but definitely not again after this. Wouldn’t recommend for dine in, take it home!

Reply to your argumentative half a*sed apology: you don’t question a customer. The food was bad and barely touched, not half eaten. You take it off and that’s it. Being cheap doesn’t get you far in customer service. My father hadn’t tried it until after I mentioned I didn’t like the meat which was towards the end of the meal only because I had barely ate. I took out the meat and ate the rice which was good. Even then I only ate a small portion. It doesn’t matter WHEN you were told, because you were told. It doesn’t take more than 2 minutes to come up with a solution. Your server said NOTHING at all before walking away because your server has no manners and was barely even present. Your customer service is truly garbage and this apology was embarrassing. Cook the food better and don’t get defensive because people don’t like it. It wasn’t paying that was the problem it was the lack of communication and the attitude. You don’t argue with customers in front of other customers over the restaurants mistake. Next time let the owner speak for the restaurant cause clearly you don’t know...

Sadness in a bag. Would not recommend; would not order again. Left us feeling depressed and disappointed. If life had an "undo" button, I would press it as quickly as possible.

We did a takeout order this evening of egg drop soup, shrimp/veggie tempura, pad mixed vegetables, and combination fried rice. Everything was...edible, technically. But not a single bite met expectations, especially for being one of the most expensive Thai places in the area. Our order was nearly $60.

These items are all things we've eaten countless times at many other places, so we know what to expect. There was nothing tempura about the shrimp/veg appetizer. The egg drop soup was weird both in the egg and the broth. The colorless gluey combo fried rice seemed to have been made with zero love, along with the pad mixed vegetables, which at least contained a few green veggies but again it was just bland bland bland.

After a couple bites from each item we ordered, we just looked across the table from each other with sadness in our eyes, shook our heads, and pushed all the food aside. I love food and love to eat. But this place sucked absolutely all the joy out of food. I've never been less excited about a meal in all my life.

We literally put everything back in the bag and threw it in the garbage - walked it all the way downstairs and to the alley outside in the freezing cold - for fear that it's continued presence in the house would make us feel too sad to continue on with...
