Yesterday, I went to eat at Tiffany's around 1 pm with my friends and had a very problematic and frustrating experience there!
First, to no fault of their own, they were understaffed and running behind on several people's orders. We waited at least 20-30 minutes, before we were able to submit our order. But we were sympathetic and understanding of the staff's workload.
So, then we decided to put our orders in and originally I was going to order sausage and waffles, but the server then asked me if I wanted Chicken and Waffles instead. I looked at the menu and saw it wasn't on there. I mentioned it and she said that it was a "special menu item" and that they offered it before. I'm adventurous and open to new things, so I said why not!
Eventually we got our food, and I saw on my plate three pieces of chicken, the waffles, and watermelon. The chicken smelled old and tasted nasty, the waffles were mediocre at best, and the watermelon didn't have any taste.
I then had a disturbing revelation that this "special menu item" was likely offered to me because I'm African American.
The waitress noticed I only ate the waffles and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no because I wanted to just leave.
She then gave me the bill which added $2 worth of chicken to the sausage and waffles item which showed me that this "special menu item" wasn't even in their system.
I was so disgusted and bothered by this and their willingness to serve me likely old and awful food.
I'm normally a patient and understanding person, and was sympathetic to the few staff there. But after reflection and knowing that I gave them my money, I had to share with you all my terrible and disappointing experience there. I will not return and do not recommend...
Read moreAs an Uptown local, I want this place to thrive and do well, but they really have to get their act together as they're struggling to provide an even average dining experience and falling short of their competitors.
My fiancé and I went here for dinner last night and noted how empty the restaurant was for a Saturday evening- only one other table of 4 was seated. We seated ourselves and ordered our food- I got the Tiffany's burger, my fiancé got the taco flight. A few minutes after we placed our order, the other table received their food.
Nobody else came into the restaurant until we got up to leave, so I am pretty confident that our food order was the only one the kitchen was working on, and it still took them at least half an hour to make. I'd expect it to take that long in a restaurant that had a normal level of customers, not in one which was nearly empty. And I would certainly then expect the food to be flawless if it's taking that long to prepare and it's the only order they're working on, but again that wasn't the case. My fiancé's steak tacos were overseasoned and way too salty, and I had ordered my burger cooked Medium Rare with an Over Easy egg- both were overcooked to a level that would be generous to define as "Medium." As a last little annoyance, our server never stopped by to refill our waters while we were seated.
Those are all annoyances that I'd be willing to overlook had the restaurant been packed or at least moderately busy last night, but the fact that it was dead empty made them stand out in a glaring way. These little details need to be addressed if they want to survive among the outstanding competition that Uptown has to offer, and I genuinely hope they...
Read moreIf I could give more stars, I would. This place is so beautiful, the service is extraordinary, the food is incredible. Our server did let us in early because it was so cold outside, but didn’t even mention they weren’t open - someone from our own party mentioned it and I recounted it to her, where she confirmed - the utmost service is one where you aren’t made to feel a fool when you ask for something outside of normal lines!
We ordered the Tiffany’s avocado toast, buttermilk pancakes, waffles and spicy sausage, French toast, and the Tiffany’s omelette. Everything was undeniably fresh, cooked perfectly, mistake-free, and served to us with intention and love.
My littlest one dropped his knife while cutting his pancakes, and although we solved the missing utensil from our own plates, our server had heard the noise from the silverware dropping and had been at the ready with another set.
I didn’t get a photo of the omelette but it was really big, fluffy, and had plenty of veggies and cheese inside of it! The taste of the rest of the food was so AMAZING, it’s dangerous to live so close! Haha!
One final thought - they put on cartoons with intention of satisfying the littles but LITTLE DO THEY KNOW, The Emperor’s New Groove is a personal favorite of mine! (Minions were on, too).
I cannot recommend Tiffany’s enough - this is a must try for...
