This is such a lovely local spot! I have been here numerous times, and a 5-star review is long overdue. But what compelled me to finally write this is the amazing experience we had just last night. This might be a lengthy review but worth the read I hope— there is simply so much good to say about Hachi!
Let me start by saying the food is always delicious. I have tried quite a few dishes and have yet to have something I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I think my favorite thing about Hachi though, is that the staff has always been very nice and accommodating and there is such a pleasant atmosphere created by the warm and caring people who work there. I have so many good memories at this restaurant. From one of my first dates with my partner of 5 years sharing yummy bibimbap together, to the numerous times I have stopped here for the lunch special in between college classes at Palm Beach State, to the many wonderful dinners with friends where we have definitely been a little rowdy but the staff is always gracious about it.
Last night will probably live on to be my favorite memory. It was around 9:20pm or so that 7 of us came in. I have worked in food service so I know it can be kinda annoying when a large group walks in during the last hour before closing, but they were happy to seat us and we really appreciated that! We proceeded to have a wonderful meal. As the meal began coming to its end, we were beginning to settle up our bills, and our lovely waitress was checking in with what appeared to be her family and two young children who were seated at a table across from us. To our delight, it was one of the children’s birthdays! We absolutely loved seeing the family friendly vibe and the sweet instance of everyone singing the happy birthday song to the child. Even though the staff was celebrating this special moment, they never made us feel out of place for being there. And to make it even better, the child wanted to share his cake with us! My heart was overjoyed as this sweet little guy politely walked cupcakes and plates of cake over to our table because he was excited to share. Obviously our waitress, his Mama, has been raising him right! Overall it was such a wholesome experience and my friends and I are extremely grateful for the incredible service, care, and of course yummy food that we experienced last night as well as every time we’ve been here. We will see you again...
Read moreI gave them at least two stars because the servers are really really awesome. I also gave two stars for the food because it’s actually very delicious. I gave one star for the atmosphere. Let me explain my rating. I used to come here very frequently, every time I was in town, which is weekly. My husband and I are in a business together and we have to be in the area and really enjoyed stopping by and looking at the cats at the boarding place next-door and then having delicious food at this location. I do have some issues. I cannot stand the smell of this restaurant. The minute you walk in it smells awful. I don’t know if it is the floor or the actual seats. It is kind of dark in there so it’s hard to notice the garbage in between the seats. I have found sweater and also a sock (not kidding) wrapped up in dust and hair in between the seats. Food also, etc. Grosses me out totally. Maybe I’m really picky but it just does. I know it’s an older place but come on now… I ate there anyway, because the food is so good. Lately, the sushi rice is hard and not cooked well. The fish is always fresh! I am gluten-free and I am limited. I was told forever that their chicken dishes were completely gluten-free, come to find out one day, a server was telling me that they actually marinate it in flour. So thank you for exposing me to cancer in the future as I have celiac disease. I discovered that I can have their sweet potato glass noodles. I forgot the actual name of the dish. I was really looking forward to it one night after working a long day with my husband, and in between the noodles, there was a very long hair. they were extremely apologetic about it and I believe they removed it off of the bill. I didn’t want it cooked again. I was just done at that point. I lost my appetite. So if you are reading this from the restaurant, understand why we don’t come there anymore. I’m sure you know who we are. I hope for the future of your restaurant that you change things. We have moved onto another...
Read moreSeriously the best! I've lived down the street from this little gem for 7ish years and every single time the food has been consistently amazing. I've tried most things on the menu by now and everything was the best version of that thing that I've eaten in South Florida. I just finished eating my leftover gyoza udon soup from last night and it's all i can think about for getting for dinner tonight. The sushi is great. The rice is always cooked perfectly and they really put a lot of fish instead of a little sliver with a bunch of fillers like most places. I have never once been even 10% let down by something i ordered there and I'm a chef and always think things can be better when i go out to eat/get take out. It's so hard to decide on what to get because it's all so good. The bulgogi, any noodle dish, the sushi i can't even figure out what to write because all the food is so good i can't just be like they have the best bulgogi because than i start thinking about the udon and the sushi and the pad thai. Just go there and order yourself a buffet of the whole menu, and you'll be really happy you did because the second you're hungry again all you'll think about is going back and you'll be happy you have the leftovers. And when the leftovers are gone you'll find yourself looking at their menu immediately. It's addicting and I'm so happy i know it exists. There's so much mediocre food around to appease to the tourists and finding a gem like this doesn't happen often. I could eat here every day and never get sick of it. And after writing this i now have to order some more or i won't stop...
