I came on a Monday night with a group of 12 people to celebrate two birthdays. I really love downtown Lake Worth and there are a variety of place to choose to eat from. We picked Lilo's based on good word of mouth from friends (thanks Julie and Mary). Lilo's is a tapas or small plates restaurant. You order one or two of something off of the menu. Portions are a decent size and it encourages sharing. The restaurant has a casual beach vibe. There is a bar in the middle of the room and plenty of seating. Cute signs and pictures decorate the wall.
For dinner I had the crispy ribs and Mexican street corn. The ribs were way too spicy for myself and my friend who ordered them. I wouldn't have picked them if they had been labeled hot on the menu. Other than the fact that they scorched my throat they were meaty and I felt that you got a nice sized portion for $10. They also came with coleslaw. The Mexican street corn on the other hand was so delicious. I shared a piece with another friend and he can't stop talking about it. It was my favorite item of the night. Other people ordered the fries, macaroni and cheese, calamari, wahoo nuggets, chips with guacamole, and different tacos. We shared a lot of it so I got a taste of everything. Everyone seemed to really like the food and I thought the menu had a nice selection so everyone could find something.
Our waitress was Zoey who was outstanding. She really went out of her way to take care of us the entire night. My friend who is pregnant started to feel nauseous and she made sure she got the chips and guacamole right away to settle her stomach. We brought a birthday cake with us and Zoey found us candles and served the cake for us. She also took all of the group picture we wanted. She was very sweet and accommodating to our large group that consisted of both adults and children. She even made me the perfect sweet tea despite the restaurant only having unsweetened.
I would like to come back and try more items on the menu. I just might make more inquiries to the spice level before I order next time. I also would like to make in time for the happy hour that ends at 7. By the time I got up here I was too late. Lilo's is around the corner from the Lake Worth branch of my church so I look forward to coming back next time I come to take pictures at church. Lilo's did a great job hosting our...
Read moreLilo’s used to be great. It was out “go to” for good food in Lake Worth. Sadly that is no longer the case. Customers beware.
The prices skyrocketed (expected with inflation but these are a huge increase from before), the menu shows cash prices only (rather than a cash discount considering most people don’t pay with cash), and the menu changed significantly with some additions but many subtractions from the menu.
On our most recent visit, which is surely our last, we made the wrong choice of ordering a test kitchen menu item - lobster and crab spring rolls (don’t remember the specific name) which was 2 fried rolls cut in half to make 4 pieces. This was an appetizer for approximately $25 (I may be off a dollar or two) but we didn’t get a receipt.
These “lobster and crab” rolls had almost no seafood in them. We tried the first half of the roll, and there was literally no lobster and no crab. We then deconstructed the second half, hoping the meat got pushed into the other side in the cooking or frying process. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt. But no. The other half had a piece of meat the size of the nail on my pinky finger. The rest was cabbage and some white cheese or sauce.
We brought this to the server’s attention. She took the remainder of the dish and went to speak to the manager. The manager never came out to speak to us but attended other nearby tables.
The server came back and told us the best the manager can do is give us 50% off that dish. No apology from the manager. No explanation. And considering the sever removed the other half of the dish, we actually paid full price for what we had… which wasn’t even what we ordered considering it had no lobster and no crab in this “lobster and crab” dish. Interestingly, the dish is no longer on the test kitchen menu and does not appear to be added to the regular menu.
As someone who has worked in the service industry for a long time, this is embarrassing and completely unacceptable. Clearly Lilo’s management only cares about money in hand, which is quite short sighted as losing repeat customers and their friends and family is a steep price to pay for half of an appetizer.
We will NEVER return and will share our latest experience with all of our...
Read moreLilo’s has been our go-to restaurant Tuesdays for the last eight months but tonight we were surprised. We often tell people how absolutely amazing the food is, especially taco Tuesday and the countless unique food options available but we felt like the service could use a little bit of help. We now have a solution and the solution‘s name is Jenn. Since we’ve been there so many times we pretty much know most all of the servers but We’ve always sat either at the bar or at one of the inside tables. last night due to the amazing Florida weather, we found ourselves sitting on the patio. It was in this location that Jenn became our favorite server in a matter of moments. Her personality combined with great customer care and attention to detail will ensure we sit on the patio every Tuesday from now on!
To Future Potential Customers: you must try out this unique dining experience. Start with the mac & cheese and then make sure you come back on a Tuesday for the amazing tacos. Everything we’ve had here has been phenomenal and you will not be disappointed with the food. To avoid any serving headaches I would highly suggest you simply ask for Jenn.
To Management: Kudos to you for an amazing job with The unique offering of the street food, killer DJ, the kitchen staff, food runners and the overall vibe but you have to do something with your servers. Many of them are mediocre at best and some of them should simply find other professions. With that said, Jenn re-invigorated our willingness to continue our patronage of Lilo‘s and we are hopeful that the server conundrum...
