So here’s the rub; I’m not the biggest fan of Italian food or Italian restaurants in general I either find them too obscurely italian or too Chef Boyardee spaghetti-O’s type cuisine. But I love good food. Better yet, I love good food I don’t have to cook. So we had a housewarming and I made carnitas and a side of elotes and everyone loved it and now we have a TON of leftover pork. Which you can only eat so much of. So I’m done with the housewarming the dishes are dishing the tv is on and so are my sweats….I’m not moving from my sofa let alone turning on the stove. I want soup-ish stuff without getting lackluster underseasoned hospital food (looking at you Panera) other than ramen (which doesn’t scream super comforting to me) or Mac n cheese (wasn’t really feeling the super cheesy goodness that night) that left that left Italian. We live in LZ so I wanted to try someplace local that I didn’t have to engage with strangers too much (socially burnt out something something) Enter DiPerios. I saw the building when I was at breakfast with my sister earlier that day and was like maybe they’ve gots some goods? Some is putting thing lightly. They have a MENU menu full of Italian goodies but what stopped me in my tracks was the baked gnocchi. BE STILL MY HEART LIL BAKED POTATO-PASTA NUGGETS IN A DELICIOUSLY ZESTY ITALIAN SAUCE WITH PARMESAN CRUMBLES AND GOOEY MELTY MOZZARELLA? Say no more I was sold. So I order and about 45min later they’re at my door. No person to greet, nothing to sign, no weird small talk. A flawless execution on the drivers part so I could slink back into the obscurity of my blanket fortified sofa and continue watching my documentary without overthinking a 5 second encounter (which at this point is a personality trait of mine, you can see my therapist recommendation if you want, we’re working on this) anyway the food is PIPING hot and smells so good, the bread they give you with it is crispy and felt fresh baked when I tore into it. The gnocchi was firm without being crunchy and soft but not soggy or slimy. The overall vibe of this meal was comforting. The marinara they had was not too sweet and also had a zesty little kick. The meatballs were PHENOMENAL and I would go back for them alone. I’m not an Italian good kind a gal…..but after this experience I AM a DiPerios person and will gladly go back for more….in person and socially...
Read moreI should have done this earlier, but I don’t usually fill out reviews. We’ve been going there occasionally for years. The food, service and ambience has always been extraordinary. They also make drinks like great bartenders did in the city years ago. So grateful we have a restaurant like this that is...
