I really wanted to like this place as its within walking distance from our home but we've had a few too many experiences there now that have rubbed us the wrong way.
The service is disjointed at best and I was shocked to see that when I ordered an iced coffee, she filled the cup with water first then pulled out a stained plastic container of concentrated coffee to mix into the water. It was akin to what I'd drink when desperate while camping.
As a cafe that pride's itself on organic, all natural, clean ingredients, I was pretty surprised and disheartened to see that their iced coffee isn't fresh and is stored in an old stained plastic container. If they aren't willing to serve fresh iced coffee, a nice mason jar for the concentrate would at least improve the optics of it.
So for now, we're on a break! Hoping that with time and some more authentic reflection on the feedback the community is providing, it will be the destination that everyone in LZ is rooting for it to be.
Edited to add: The owner wrote a rather condescending response to my review, rather than being reflective and acknowledging my experience as their guest.
As an avid coffee drinker, I am well aware of the different forms and productions of ICED coffee...I actually prefer the bitterness and don't enjoy COLD brew at all. Iced coffee is meant to be brewed hot, then chilled and served over ice. If you're going to continue concentrating your brew, then at least put the water in right after so the water has time to steep with coffee. Concentrate added to water then immediately served is cheap.
As far as my suggestion to use glass, not sure what what was meant by "sweet" but it comes across as rude and condescending for some pretty simple feedback. It seems clear from reading the other responses from the owner that they are not open to reflection on...
Read moreWe moved to the area around 3 months ago and drop by Stompin Ground most weekends. We have typically had great service and enjoyed the coffee (best in the area!) and food. I visited today with my son for lunch and it wasn’t quite right. The coffee order was wrong - hot rather than iced. The barista was apologetic which I appreciated and we moved on - no problem at all. We had ordered some sandwiches and waited a long time (solid 20 - 25 minutes) - note it wasn’t busy. I asked how the sandwiches were progressing and received an unenthusiastic response. No update was provided. Waited another 15 minutes and finally received them with no apology or care what so ever. 30 mins+ wait when not busy is just too long! While waiting the staff were in the kitchen talking and having a good time - no one was paying attention to customers. I was a little annoyed with the whole experience. I hope Stompin Ground Cafe can take this feedback constructively and improve as you are about as close to an Australian cafe as we have in the area that reminds me of home! We will continue dropping by with the hope that the service is...
Read moreMe and my wife ordered two sandwiches. The store was busy and her sandwich came within a respectable time. We waited some time and then inquired about mine to the barista. He checked on it and said they are starting to work on it. Long after my wife was done eating the girl from the kitchen brought mine. I inquired what took so long and she said the Barista had given mine to another customer and scooted off. No apologies. After biting into the sandwich I determined it was not what I had ordered but probably what the other person ordered. By that time my wife was ready to go so I just ate what was planted IN front of me. On the way out I told the Barista and the cashier what had happened. The response was oh. Not apologies. The Barista seemed overwhelmed with all the orders and not very friendly. I told him that I was not happy and would be telling my experience on Yelp or any other online venues. Once again no response. On the positive side even though the sandwich was not made to my order...
