Cannot say enough. Wonderful, delicious and friendly little place. Long story short - great, fresh food for take out or dine in. Deceivingly located in a strip mall in Lake Zurich you probably pass this place by often and never think twice. Next time go in and get something. Dine alone, do take out for TV night or bring someone you love. A story of discovery. Long busy day as we often find ourselves and me and my bride were starving and went out for something quick. In route to our last stop for the night was a well known sandwich shop so thought we'd pop in and get a quick sandwich and run. We're all guilty of this. Running around and defaulting to something fast, familiar and sometimes; flavorless. Anyway; It was 8:45 at night and we saw Sushi Yoru still open. (They closed at 8:30) The owners, employees and family were sitting down having their dinner. We walked up and saw the store hours sign and turned away. They all got up and waved us in....warm, smiling and inviting. We walked in and were welcomed like family. Apologizing and thanking them. They insisted and we ordered. Freshly prepared food. Good food prepared with talent and with a smile. We took our feast and left and found a quiet place to park and feast. Simply wonderful. What a mistake; a disappointing mistake to grab a sandwich and miss this place. Went back again for dine in. So nice, so pleasant, so good. The menu is ample and the specials numerous. Raw as well as cooked Sushi items, Ramens and other delights. Website is overly simple and needs to be expanded. However, don't drive past this place again. Stop by for lunch, on the way home or with a date. Treat yourself to something good in a friendly environment. Do something better than a mass produced filler meal. Handmade, fresh, friendly and inconspicuous. There's still smiles, flavor and hope left in the world. Sushi Yoru. Drop in and enjoy -...
Read moreSince moving to the area almost 2 years ago, my husband and I really enjoy good sushi, and this place is truly a hidden gem! We’ve tried a couple of other local places, but honestly, this is the one place we just always go to when the craving for amazing sushi hits!
The owners are very nice and friendly. I believe it’s just them there, too. The female owner is always pleasant on the phone when we call to place our large order! Her husband (I think) is the sushi “chef.” Most times you do have to order a little in advance for takeout/pickup, but I promise it’s worth the wait! It’s fresh and made-to-order, just like great sushi should be! Every roll is perfection and made with care, and very tasty! We’ve never had a bad experience here, ever.
I hope this restaurant continues to thrive because we need it!! Hands down, the best sushi we’ve ever had! If you haven’t tried...
Read moreSushi Yoru is fantastic! I have been coming here for years and have lunch pretty regularly. The food is always fresh and made to order. They also offer sushi platters which are not only delicious, but beautiful and also a great value. The pictures are of a takeout order I did a couple of days ago. The sushi platter includes edamame, dumplings, and four miso soups. This was a delicious and filling meal for four people. The restaurant is owned by an older couple with husband as the sushi chef and the wife taking care of the customers and the phone. They are very nice and friendly.
Disregard the a-hole who left the one-star review because the restaurant was closed. The husband recently had eye surgery and they were closed while he recovered and the wife took care of him. This place is worth a visit and I suggest calling ahead to make sure...
