Just left this location. My husband and I went through the drive threw and ordered two shakes. One Strawberry and one Peanut Butter. The man asked if we wanted whipped cream and we said no for both. We got to the window to pay and the girl repeated back "Two Shakes" and we said, "Yep". Pulled away and then realized that one was Chocolate, both also had whipped cream, but not a huge deal except that I had been craving a strawberry shake for the entire day so my husband went to the window to get our order corrected and the man who took our order literally cursed at my husband and told him he was lying. We all understand it could have been a simple mistake, easily corrected with a quick sorry and a corrected order. I would have even left a great review, but there is literally no excuse for a grown man to be yelling at another grown man over a freaking ice cream shake. Come on!!!! Take a breath, apologize and correct the order. We've all been in customer service and understand things happen, but this was deplorable behavior. I feel so sorry for the girls who work there who seemed to be afraid of him. No woman should feel physically afraid of...
Read moreI love this location. I wouldn't say they're perfect, but they're ok for me if I average my overall visit so far. There are times that my toppings are not mixed well, but I can only count these instances with my fingers. Most of the time, everything are as expected.
I don't like to talk much or stare at people, but there is this older man here. I usually order late and more than half of my visit he is there. Too bad I didn't know his name, i don't recall him smiling or overzealous, but he doesn't need to. I imagined him tired for working till evening, yet he looks ok, unlike other service crew that may or may not be working here, and you can tell in their face they're tired. He reminds me of my grandpa, and it makes me feel light and happy every time he receives our order. I usually add some toppings, and he always...
Read moreI work in Barrington, so the Lake Zurich DQ is most convenient for me. 2-3 times a week, I have a large chocolate cone as my lunch. Traditionally, the Lake Zurich DQ is chincy on the amount of ice cream, plus, it's very "airy," as though they pump in air to inflate the volume. Not what I would consider ice cream--more like whipped cream instead. Last summer, I was thrilled to have discovered a DQ in Algonquin which I prefer soooo much more. The amount of ice cream is more of what I expect, not "airy," and the employees are so much more pleasant. Today, I gave the Lake Zurich DQ another try, thinking maybe they had changed owners, ice cream machines, or something. Same old, same old. Never again will I go there. I'll drive the extra miles to Algonquin, where I know I'll be happy with...
