I started the adult program back in June. I was looking for something close to home that I could a get a workout and learn a new skill. The martial art classes are 30 minutes and are twice a week. Along with the classes you also get access to fitness classes . What we are learning in MA class is often reinforced in fitness. In fitness , we do something similar to kick boxing.
In MA class we have a curriculum that we use to help us focus on the different skills and that help you to reach the different belts. Getting to the new belts is not a huge focus but more of a benefit . The teacher will never make you do anything you are not comfortable with.
There are variety of ages and skills levels in the class but everyone is super supportive and welcoming. Our teacher also goes over real - life situations of when we may have to use the different skills/moves. Some days are more intense than others (sweating wise), depending on what skills we are working on and if we are hitting things. Ever since I started , I have gotten physically stronger and more confident . I have also made new friends and been welcomed into a...
Read moreLZFMA has honestly changed our family's life. Prior to martial arts, my little guy struggled with attention, focus, behavior, listening, and fine/gross motor skills. He has had OT, PT, & BT for years and had little success in other group sports and activities due to the challenges in these areas. My son's physical/core strength, confidence, and behavior at home & school has improved significantly since late last year, when he first enrolled in the Little Ninjas program. As a teacher myself, I am in awe of Master Kera's ability to work with students of all ability levels, giving them 1:1 attention and building their skills and confidence with seemingly endless enthusiasm! The facility is clean, welcoming to parents (they even serve coffee and doughnuts on Saturday morning!), and inclusive for little siblings (toys and books to keep them entertained while the big kids have class). It seems like the area has a lot of options for Martial Arts, and if you are questioning which one would be a good fit for your child, I give my highest...
Read moreKera, Ted, and the rest of the staff at LZFMA are great. We have a 5 and 7 year old that have been taking lessons here for 2 years and they love it. There is always an emphasis on both physical and emotional intelligence in the curriculum. Students are taught courtesy, integrity, self control, and indomitable spirit. I love how the older kids are brought in as leaders/helpers for the younger classes as well. The facility is always clean and viewing options for parents are plentiful. In addition to martial arts classes, LZFMA also has a myriad of additional classes and events that are available -- yoga, parties, fun nights, fitness classes, etc... During the Covid19 quarantine, LZFMA has been adapting to the ever-changing landscape by offering remote classes, limited live classes, recordings, and even remote private instruction. The amount of effort and care that they have put in to keep their students engaged is admirable. I cannot recommend LZFMA highly enough. I hope that they (and everyone) are able to return to normal...
