I LOVE what they did with the inside of this building, very comfortable and open feel the decor. Food is on the pricier side of the spectrum. The menu is vibrant and there is A LOT to look at / choose from. Some things that I noticed right off the bat are the prices and descriptions. I'd say some of the pricing does not make sense in regards to turning a profit but is currently at the customers benefit. I'm sure in time this menu will change (ever so slightly) when the restaurant is more established. The descriptions can be considered somewhat vague (to an inexperienced guest) but the staff seem very knowledgeable when you ask questions. We were seated quickly (mid day on a Wednesday) despite the restaurant being full. I feel like there is a lot of fluff in their drink menu and the super basic drinks like a classic margarita weren't included (although available). Some guests in my party felt that nothing was popping out at them while looking through the drink menu. I was pleased to see that there were multiple dessert options beyond the classic Flan. However, there were no GF dessert options listed. Food came out quickly at a nice temperature and was delicious. Lots of GF items listed on the menu. Staff seemed knowledgeable about allergy concerns.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment we walked into Azteca D’Oro, we were blown away by the atmosphere. A live mariachi band was playing, and it instantly set the tone for an authentic Mexican dining experience. Honestly, that band takes the restaurant to a whole new level—please never get rid of them! Live music like that adds so much more than just background noise from ceiling speakers ever could. The food was absolutely amazing. The portions were perfect—not too much, not too little—and every bite was full of bold, rich flavors. Their menu is packed with so many options, and there’s truly something for everyone, even kids. I really appreciated how they had menu items for picky eaters (hello, chicken nuggets) and good sized portions of actual meals for children who enjoy trying different foods. The service was great—friendly and attentive. If I had to be picky, the only thing I’d mention is that the server or hostess could have brought napkins, straws, and silverware when seating us or greeting us. But honestly, that was such a small thing it didn’t affect our experience at all. My fiancé and I are already planning our next visit. This place is a gem—highly recommend!

After shopping at the Target in South Lakeland, the kids and I were hungry and this was the closest place to have a sit down dinner. I ordered the boys a meat and cheese appetizer quesadilla each. It was way too much food for them. I should have ordered one and had them split it. The quesadilla was really good. Tons of meat and cheese and filled them up. The other quesadilla definitely didn't go to waste. We took it home and ate it the following day so win, win. Food was fast, our server was very friendly. We were able to pay by debit card at the table with the restaurant's portable device. The only downfall to this whole experience is that I didn't experience sufficient spacing. People sat at tables directly behind and in front of us. So close we had to move the table and scoot in our chairs. I realize going out to a restaurant is a risk in itself, but most have removed tables from their dining area to create space between patrons. We didn't feel very comfortable, even though the food and service was good. Overall, we got in and out pretty quickly which is always good with kids.

This being told by Tom’s wife:

Went to meet up with family at the Winter Haven location. Waitress brought our drinks just as granddaughter’s arrived. Waitress asked my son and I to help her pass the drinks so she didn’t spill them. Suddenly ice cold beer went all down my back and I screamed like any normal person would. I was soaked through my undergarments.

Got to the restroom to clean up. No paper towels but instead was a small hand dryer which only stayed on for about 5 seconds at a time. A family member brought in a roll of paper towels someone from the kitchen gave her but they didn’t help.

Got back to our table and saw paper towels on the floor where my chair had been. Tom had gotten spillage on his shorts and shirt but not as bad as me. I moved to another spot at our table for the rest of the meal. Needless to say, I lost my appetite and didn’t order anything. Tom ordered his meal.

During the rest of our time there, no wait staff or management came to check on me.

My husband got the check (more than $30) and paid over $35 including tip. (He does not like confrontation and did not say anything.)

I believe the waitress should have apologized along with the manager and at least comped the meal. But no apology, no manager, NOTHING!!!!

I phoned Azteca this when they opened today and asked for a manager but was told there was no one in charge there until about 12:30. What a piss poor way of doing business. Needless to say, we will NEVER go to an Azteca...

My friends and family are a frequent patron of Azteca. The food and service is always good. Today however, January 28. 2023, 4 of us went to the Azteca on Harden Blvd in Lakeland where we usually go. At the front left side there was a party of maybe 20 having a birthday party. Laughter and fun is okay but never have I had to be in a restaurant and be blasted by horribly loud, obnoxious laughter, shouting, and disturbing!!! We were 4 rows away and couldn't ever converse at our table. My check alone was over 55 dollars as I also had queso and guacamole with my entrée. The others also spent about the same. I couldn't eat my stomach was so upset over the din. The manager came to our table and several other tables to apologize to us and said there was nothing he could do. So we were subjected to the most horrible dining experience I have ever had in 67 years. Leaving the restaurant there was groups of people standing out front discussing their horrible experience. The drunker they got, the worse they were. I see no reason why a manager could not step to their table and let them know other patrons were asking for them to lower the noise. Actually 2 parties came in and got up and left without ordering. I and my family will definitely find a different place to dine from now on. It will not happen to me again. So absolutely disappointing to know it could not be handled. It's a restaurant not a sleazy...

My wife and I and some friends came out tonight to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We expected the restaurant to be packed but there were plenty of empty and available tables. This gave us the impression that the service would be amazing and spot on. Unfortunately it was quite the opposite. Our server was rushing us through our evening before we could even order food. She took out menus before I could even place my dinner order in. Throughout the night she did not really check in on us, I basically had to call out for her just to get a drink refill. My wife was not done with her food and she came to ask if my wife was still eating to which my wife replied yes, she then proceeded to ask if my wife needed a box to which my wife said no she was still eating. Without hesitating the service took her plates. This was HIGHLY unacceptable and disrespectful. Once we had paid I needed to take one of my babies to the restroom to change his diaper. While I was in the process of that the server came back to our table asking if one of our friends was done with her margarita to which she said no. Within 5 minutes she returned once again to ask if she was done. This was a horrible experience and I’ve always liked this restaurant but I will not be returning to this location or recommending it at all....
