My family and I have had not so good luck with many Chinese Take-Out Restaurants here in Lakeland. I found this place online with the highest amount of reviews and gave it a shot a while back.
My dad is originally from NYC and he has had a lot and I mean, A LOT, of Chinese food. When I brought it home for dinner the first time, I was shocked to see bean sprouts in the fried rice. Something you never see in a majority of take-out here in Lakeland and my dad always requests it. Here, it's a staple! And on the menu it says "New York Style Take Out Restaurant."
We've been sold and love this restaurant. We got the Chicken Lo Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Egg Rolls, and General Tso's Chicken. We already love the rice and sweet and sour pork. The egg rolls are delicious! The Lo Mein and General Tso's Chicken was out of this world!!! Each dish has its own flavor that is unique and makes each dish so savory and amazing. Seasoned perfectly and making each meal something to enjoy each...
Read moreMy daughter and I both got sick from the food from China Wok. I threw the leftovers out promptly. $30 worth. When I took my receipt in and kindly asked for a refund, they were instantly, aggressive and rude. My 7 year old grandson was shocked and heartbroken. He'd never seen someone act so poorly. The owner shoved a phone number of their insurance company at me. I called the number numerous times and it was a strange recording of someone's personal phone-- no business name given. You couldn't even make out what he was saying. Did not sound legitimate, and I was too leary to leave my personal information on a recording. They were so rude at the China Wok each time I tried to follow through that it no longer became worth my time to try and get them to do the right thing. They hung up on me numerous time. sigh If they had been the least bit compassionate, kind or done the right thing we would have certainly remained customers and given them another chance. They lost us...
Read moreQuality of food - On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 as the best and 1 as the worst I rate this as a 1. I had chicken lo-mein and my wife had beef and broccoli. The lo-meim had only 2 small slices of light meat chicken in a brown sauce (I am used to a lighter sauce) that tasted like garlic. The beef and broccoli was edible but had almost no taste. Quality of Service - Cashier was hard to understand and unfriendly. Additionally, the internet add claims that they have vegetable soup. We asked if it was a tomato base and they said it was chicken base. We asked for a sample in a paper cup and they said no. In retrospect after the way the two entrees turned out I'm glad we didn't try the soup. Efficiency of Service - The food took about 25 minutes which is a little longer then other places I have been. Price - The bill for the 2 meals was around $17. Too much to pay considering the quality of food was lousy. Overall rating - I rate this as a 2 with 1 being the worst and 5...
