Lakeland’s newest ice cream shop is officially open, with their grand opening being May 8! Mootown Scoops is in a fantastic location right off of Lake Morton along East Palmetto Street. It’s across the street from the public library, Lake Morton Black & Brew, and the AGB (aka Polk) Museum of Art. It’s in close quarters to Misterfish and the Peach House, so there’s activities, food & drink within super close walking distance to then top your time off with some delicious ice cream. The shop is pretty small, and it got fairly busy when we went so I’m curious to see how the line holds up. The register is closer to the door but you order on the far opposite end, but it’s very narrow so I can see it getting extremely crowded even with a dozen or so people in line. But now, the ice cream, it was great! I was impressed that they have 3-4 non-dairy options which is more than the average ice cream shop. You can also choose from a homemade waffle cone, affogato, or croque glacé (ice cream sandwich of sorts). The croque glacé is a fun and unique option. I tried the espresso chip which will satisfy any coffee lover. However, the gator trail is a really popular one with chocolate fudge and peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream. Oh, and you can also get a milkshake too. There’s minimal outdoor seating but not much room to add more. You can park on either side of the building or across the street in the library parking lot.

From the moment you walk in, the scrumptious smell of waffle cones just hits you! Mootown Scoops is the best new ice cream shop in Lakeland for everyone🍦🐮🍨 This place is as charming and groovy as their staff and name! You’re also invited by the creative pastel interior decor and a variety of delectable sweets - including a warm croque glace! They have flavors and non-dairy options of every kind. Plenty of seating indoors/outdoors, and plenty of parking. Located perfectly, enjoy your treat by Lake Morton. 🦢 Additionally, you’re able to try samples from classic vanilla, gator trail, to seasonal mango. Imagine a warm ice cream hug 🥰 - that’s what a croque glacé is: 2 pieces of soft brioche bread and any type of ice cream + syrup flavor! *chefs kiss* We had one with vanilla ice cream and blackberry syrup. We also tried the strawberry waffle cone and pistachio affogato. 11/10 for all! The staff and owners are so approachable and welcoming, you just know so much love and passion has gone into this ice cream shop. From small details like sprinkles on the walls to their neon signs and unique local art. Mootown Scoops made us so happy and is absolutely our new favorite ice cream spot!

Absolutely thrilled to have an ice cream shop this close to Lake Morton—especially one within walking distance from home! Is it going to be a problem? Well, for my self-control… probably. But for my happiness? Not one bit! Great selection, super friendly staff, spotless space, and comfy seating both inside and out. A sweet addition to the neighborhood!

Mootown is a fantastic addition to our neighborhood! My wife and I stopped by for a Sunday afternoon treat, and it did not disappoint. It’s just a short walk for us, but even if you’re driving, it’s well worth the trip.

My wife went with a single scoop of the sea salt caramel and loved every bite. I couldn’t decide right away—after sampling a few flavors (which only made the choice harder because they were all so good), I finally landed on a double scoop: espresso chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough. The two paired perfectly. I especially appreciated that the espresso flavor was bold and authentic—not weak or artificial like you sometimes find. The texture was spot-on too: smooth, creamy, and packed with generous chunks of cookie dough and rich chocolate chips.

I wish I had taken a photo, but the second I sat down, all I could think about was diving in—photos were the last thing on my mind! We’ll absolutely be...
