Shopping nearby, I couldn't wait to stop by and pay a visit to Pieology Pizzeria in Lakewood, which recently opened a few months ago, located next to Cafe Rio & adjacent to Cost Plus World Market.
Diners can choose pre-set pizzas or have unlimited toppings on their own custom pie.
After a few mins, my culinary creation was within my grasp. Herb butter & red sauce, ricotta & gorgonzola cheese, pepperoni & bacon, olives, mushrooms, red onions, artichokes, garlic, cilantro with a slathering of pesto. Delicious! The thin crust had a light crunch, the cheeses were salty & sour. The portions are enough for 2 to share, or 1 if you're a fatty (like me). The quality of the ingredients, especially the artichokes, were the highlight of my first visit here. At only $7.50 plus tax, definite bang for the buck as well.
Paying for my pizza, I noticed a coupon next to the register for a free cinnamon dessert pizza with purchase of a pizza (good till 11/30/13). Score! Yes! Go Rodney! Go Rodney! It's your birthday! Not a holiday! But, do it anyway! ;p
Dessert, courtesy of Pieology. Mmmmmm, cinnamon. The cinnamon dessert pizza reminded me of the popular dish, bunuelos. Only difference being, the bunuelos I've had before were crispy, where this was more chewy.
Ample seating inside, with communal & more private tables, booths and stools. Service was helpful, with a clean restroom to boot! Parking is in a private lot, shared by the aforementioned Cafe Rio & Cost Plus World Market.

Amber K and Brian B are the worst and have a bad attitude. HORRIBLE service I will never go back. Went to this location (Lakewood Ca today 6/12 at 5:20pm) there was 1 other person in front of me. Amber was doing an online order then helped the lady in front of me. After she finished she grabbed another online line order I said EXCUSE ME CAN YOU TAKE MY ORDER SHE TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL SHE WAS FINISHED.No smile no Hi nothing Are you kidding me I needed to get back to work Finally Amber helps me with an ATTITUDE. I asked Amber if I had any rewards and she explained my reward options. I chose the side salad. I watched her make it and it was only 1/2 way filled with lettuce. I asked for more lettuce and she said NO BECAUSE IT WAS FREE....ARE YOU KIDDING ME I EARNED IT AND YOU ARE RIPPING ME OFF. Amber said the manager was not in and I can talk to him...Brian. Brian walks up and he said the that is all the lettuce you get because it Free and I will give you a LITTLE BIT MORE THIS TIME BUT DON'T ASK AGAIN. We had not been to a Pieology in a while and we had forgotten how satisfying it is to get exactly what you want on a pizza! Both my husband and and I usually have to compromise on something in order to agree on our Pizza toppings! Lol.
We went a bit later in the evening, so it wasn't crowded like it can be on a Friday night. I know we aren't the only "Friday night is Pizza night" people, so it can get pretty lively there sometimes. The popularity of the place only reflects that the food and the concept are both continuing to be a great fit for the City of Lakewood! 👍
I was pleasantly surprised with the different crust types they offer now! I got one with a thicker crust and it was great! I need that thicker crust to hold everything up on top of my pizza. By the time I'm done directing the creation of mine, it can be quite an amazing sight! Lol! It still amazes me how fast they can cook those Pies! Before you know it, your Pizza is ready!
