I think that every place should be reviewed, from the worst to the best to the just okay.
TLDR: This place is... pretty good!
I really enjoyed the food, and the service was very quick. The actual restaurant was a bit mediocre, but I can't provide many details on that since I ordered takeout.
I saw one review saying they had an issue with ordering out using Menufy, and I believe that's been resolved as I had no issues!
The service was quick, and I received my order within 15 minutes of me ordering. Though I did order at 9:30 at night so that probably had something to do with the quickness.
The inside of the restaurant wasn't anything to write home about. A good 9ish kinda big tables with chairs placed around an empty main room. Little privacy and I can't speak to the cleanliness sadly, which I know some people mentioned wasn't the best.
I ordered the Chicken Scewers (first and second pic) and the Chicken with Mixed Veggies (third pic) dinner combo with Fried Rice (fourth pic).
The Chicken Scewers were $8.99 for four of them, which I thought was a bit pricy until I got them. Very big pieces of chicken and very juicy. The skin was a bit burnt, but it was mostly at the ends. I was worried about the chicken itself being cooked alright since I've seen some reviews about food poisoning, but the chicken was cooked fully! Very good otherwise, 8/10.
The Chicken and Mixed Veggies (dinner special) was $13.99 with an added surcharge of $2.00 for the fried rice. This sounded about right and what I'd usually pay for at a typical East Aian restaurant.
The chicken was more thinly cut and was also very good and juicy. The chicken got cold and a bit quickly, but I was fine with that. The veggies we very mixed as well. From broccoli to bell peppers, there was everything. I think there were red and green bell peppers, mini corn, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and cucumber. 9/10
The Fried Rice was...fine? I don't usually get fried rice as I'm not a huge fan of rice in general, but it tasted more or less fine. It's a bit dry and stale, and I saw some people say that it was Mexican fried rice? I think it may be after looking at some pictures online. 6/10
There was also a Convenience Fee of $1.50 and a Tax of $1.77. In total, without tip, my order was $26.25. Considering I'll definitely have leftovers with how big the portions were, I'm...
Read moreI work at a hotel and order food frequently for my housekeeping staff. I called to place an order for delivery and had several issues with the address portion of the order. The guy taking my order could not get it right so he gave me my total and The owner called me personally because we were having issues with the address. She took my address and told me that they deliver under 5 miles and I was at 3.2 miles away so there was going to be a delivery fee, I asked why her total was different than the one i received from the guy I first spoke with. Food was delivered and went fine. About an hour later I had 2 of my staff members come down and ask me to order the same thing for them to take home. I agreed and called The New China Kitchen Express to place a second order and the owner answered. I gave her my address and told her what I needede and she DECLINED DELIVERY SERVICE! She told me that the order had to be over $50 for them to deliver to me. I told her absolutely not and asked if she was specifically telling me no or if that was the policy. She told me that is was for me only and that if I wanted food again it would have to be $50 minimum. I became very upset at this point because when you work at a hotel you cannot leave!! I will never order through this company again, I am completely disgusted at the discrimination from the owner of a business! We tipped and everything. AWFUL...
Read moreI saw way too many bad reviews of this place and grew hesitant, but I checked it out about a year ago and have been back at least 30 times!! I've never once gotten sick, the flavors are always consistent so my recommendation is eat less, smile more! The dose makes the poison for ANYTHING on the planet, even water.
There is obviously a difference between the fresh food and food that's been sitting out, but they replace the trays so often that I can't imagine anyone actually getting bad food, let alone COLD food. Check it out, worst case scenario you lose $10, but that won't happen!
Oh, and "attitude". They wear masks so it's hard to see, but between the tensioning of the forehead, to the vocal inflections, to the quick and polite language, I've had nothing but smiles and GREAT interactions with the people here! If you're getting bad attitude from these wonderful people, check yourself!
I had to switch over from my old favorite dollar scoop on Ralston road to this one because everything here is so great. Take reviews (mine included) with a grain of salt, so check it out and build your...
