i adore this place and have never had a bad experience here.
their ramen is literally what got me to be a fan of actual, non-instant ramen- it is delicious. no other ramen i've tried from other ramen places has compared yet. and they will always stand miles above any other ramen place for me due just to the tonkotsu chicken, which has a rich, flavorful tonkotsu broth, and also a sliced cutlet of chicken katsu. personally, i am NOT a fan of chashu, i always find it bland. the option to have katsu, which is one of my favorite foods, as your ramen meat instead, is something i haven't seen anywhere else. the ramen serves as kind of like a sauce for the katsu and it combined with the crunch and flavor of the katsu is so good.
they recently introduced karaage, sitting on a bed of lettuce, topped with green onions and drizzled with spicy mayo, which i was super excited about. its delicious, crunchy and moist inside, and these days i usually just get that, and their fried gyoza, which is also delicious and served with spicy mayo. this place is literally why i started liking spicy mayo.
the workers are always friendly, polite and super helpful. it is a small restaurant with a small staff, if you need something you have to go ask for it and there's nothing wrong with that. i have never had my food take a long time to come out here, it's usually ridiculously fast and so piping hot we have to wait to eat it.
the naruto art all over everything is a huge bonus and absolutely iconic, it is fun to take pictures with and adds so much character and charm; i have taken to calling it "the naruto cafe" instead of zen. there is usually something like naruto or hunterxhunter on the tv, and often kpop playing. it's a very fun place to bring friends who are also into such things. (-: even aside from the naruto art, the look is cute, with rope and starlights and such. there is a review complaining at length about the remastered aesthetic of all the wood-- get with the times! it's nice, not weird, and no, the seats arent...
Read moreI was drawn in by naruto themed ramen restaurant as I imagine everyone is there. Removing the art from the experience this place looked like they had a budget of $200 to build this place. I dont get the theme in this location as it didn't make me feel like I was eating at the same place as naruto or naruto could walk through the door at any moment. It just made me feel I was on a construction site turned restaurant. Their ramen was well portion however the noodles tasted alittle under cooked but overall tasted fine. In total I spent around $50 for 2 pork buns that looked more mini pork gyros 2 bowls and 2 drink so it's alittle pricey. But I can't get passed the uncomfortable seats (plywood) and just overall theme. I wish it looked more esthetically pleasing and my noodles cooked alittle longer. I wouldn't feel so ripped off otherwise. I didn't have to much interaction with the staff they seem friendly. But it also doesn't make sense the the menu is behind you when you walk in and get directed to turn around and stand in front of or next to the door to figure out what you want. This place makes so sense. I'd recommend you guys renovate. I don't need to feel like I'm eating ramen with naruto but at least not eating in the back room...
Read moreI came in here today to dine with a friend. Apparently we came to the wrong zen Ramen place but I decided to be optimistic and give it a shot anyway. It was a bit too overpriced for the quality of the food we were served. The Tonkotso Noodle was not hot. The egg was almost cooked all the way but it was tasty regardless. The pork bun was dry and chewy and it didn’t leave a good impression. The spicy tuna nacho poke was a joke. The tuna was frozen and the tomato that were cut into it made it the consistency of the bite a bit off. The jalapeños looked like 7/11 jalapeños that were sitting out the whole day and was just tossed into it. No taste. Very underwhelming especially for that cost. However the only redeeming quality was the chips. The sushi burrito, the firecracker, was good. I think that was the best dish. However it was mostly crab filling and not enough tuna.
After we ordered, I asked for my receipt and the guy asked if I needed it. Of course I needed it, I asked for it. I thought they were going to deliver it to the table but it never came. I wouldn’t come here anymore. However I think I added a star because of the aesthetic and the fact their bathroom was spotless. Please try...
