I'm from Montreal where we have top notch Indian restaurants so this might be biased a bit as I'm comparing to what I knew before and this restaurent is not as good, but I'll say for the Anteloppe Valley it's probably the best available. It's a bit of hit and miss, so I'll start with the good.
The Samossa appetizer was really good, their plain naan is good, the garlic naan tastes just like the mango naan but both are good, basmati rice is fine, fish appetizer was excellent in texture and flavor (but I found two fishbones so eat carefully and drop one star), finally their Indian chai tea was very very nice.
The bad, the chicken tandoori was a total disappointment as it tasted like bland cheap rotisserie chicken with red dye on it (it looked authentic, but had no flavor). The lamb curry my wife liked but I had way better before and we had spinach vegetable which was decent.
Service is very friendly but they made two errors (wrong naan but they gave us a freebie for their mistake) and they forgot to bring my second cup of chai (it never came, they just totally forgot). Regardless, the experience was good.
Ambiance is typical of an Indian restaurant with soft lights, nothing classy in the accommodations and nice Indian traditional music playing.
Price was expensive in my mind, but in their defense they have big portions. We had the dinner for two at 29.99$, the appetizer platter at 7.99$ and some extra naan, we needed two boxes in the end and I ate my fill.
So in conclusion, if your in the area it's probably your best bet for Indian cuisine. Just don't order too much, get their great appetizers, get the Indian tea and forget that tandoori boring chicken and you'll have a good time.
I'll go back, but I'll try different items to edit my review. Hopefully the main dishes...
Read moreDrove 1.5 hours as there are no Indian restaurants near us to this place in Lancaster. Spent about $50 for Chicken Tikka Masala, Dal Makhani, Aloo Tikki with Chana, Garlic and Plain Naan, Chapathi (another simple type of Indian bread), Tea, Mango Lassi and Raita (Yogurt).
The food wasn't tasty at all. I've been eating Indian food at home and outside for the past 40 years and this was the Worst experience ever. I can go into more detail, but I hope you read this before you make a decision and save yourself the time, money and excitement and go to another place. Even the waiter looked somewhat confused as to what I was ordering which was straight from their menu. Don't know how this place has been around since 1988 with what I saw. Maybe they had better chefs, trainers, staff before. Non-Indian people will not get the true experience of eating Authentic Indian cuisine by going here until they make a lot of changes which I hope they will.
The only good thing was that the food was hot and the...
