Yesterday I visited this place of business to quench my craving for some good ole soul food...Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the clean establishment and helpful staff..The staff offered me and my daughter a complimentary drink (several options to choose from).. I ordered the gumbo and several side dishes and desserts...My sides and desserts were brought out within 15 minutes..I was told by the staff that they had to make more rice and it would be a 10min wait....Well that 10 minutes turned into 45min...The owner (I think she was the owner) offered myself and other patrons a free dessert as a thank you for out patience...I was irritated about the long wait for rice...but appreciated the gesture...I was let down upon tasting the food...The greens and yams were not throughly cooked (though the yams had great flavor)..The mac-n-cheese was just okay..The chocolate cake tasted store bought..The peach cobbler (although a little too sweet)...
Read moreMy husband and I accidentally stumbled upon this new soul food restaurant today and we are so glad we went.
What an awesome, kind, organized and super friendly staff. Food was so good especially the FISH.. We met Muffin the owner and most of the staff and I must say they were all very accommodating. As we sat and enjoyed our meal a young man entered the establishment and looked our way and proceeded to ask if we were ok and needed anything. Well he introduced himself as the owners husband. Now that is what you call family business!! A big shout out to Muffinâs Mom she was just awesome. Also a shout out to the young lady who checked on us regarding our fish a big YES to her and we are enjoying the rest right now!!! We will definitely return and support your business. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND STAY...
Read moreLet me start by saying I'm going to try this restaurant again. Just to be fair and because I want it to succeed . I'm also going to post an honest review. The customer service was excellent!! There were a lot of employees in and out of the kitchen which gave me an uneasy feeling. Due to Covid and sanitation reasons. Especially since the restaurant had only two customers and a few pick/takeout orders. The pork chops very thin with no flavor. The greens had more stems then leaves, I was wasn't too pleased with the flavor or lack of. The cabbage was very mushy and had a funny taste. The yams were good. I feel the portion sizes were small for the price. I do feel this business has big potential. The Antelope Valley definitely needed a soul food restaurant. Good luck to this family...
