Tonic Juice & Remedy — Restaurant in Langley

The owner of this shop racially profiled my half black best friend and accused them of stealing. Do not go here, or to the ramen shop next door that’s run by the same owner, if you at all care about BIPOC people. The owner yelled at my friend, saying, “don’t think I don’t see what you’re doing, don’t you dare try to steal from me,” when they were simply holding money in their hand as we were waiting for our drink. When my friend showed her it was just money, she said “well you look awfully shifty,” and was going to say more about it, but was cut off by me telling her to cancel our smoothie order as we immediately left the place. She had nothing but nice things to say to me, a white woman, but then she turned around and accused my BIPOC best friend of stealing when they were just trying to pay. I was just visiting, but this spot left an impression. Tonic Juice & Remedy is a cozy, vibrant haven. The redhead short-haired barista? Absolute gem. Incredibly sweet, welcoming, and made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Her energy was so good, I left with more than just my delish Ruby Rain Drink. I left smiling.

Honestly, service like that deserves all the good things in life. Hope the universe is treating her very well.
