Last Night, the husband really wanted to try the B & I Bar, but by the time we got them, we had no idea that their kitchen stopped taking orders 2 hours before Close on Sundays. One of the waitstaff personally suggested dining at Front 43 Neighborhood Pub, since their hours are late for a Sunday. After looking at their menu, we were intrigued and drove over. (Besides, for me, one CAN'T go wrong with Sushi Sunday - thx for the tip, awesome waitperson!!)
Once there, we were greeted by the bartender, Scott L. He actually MADE our first dining experience. Since both my husband and I wanted to try new things, Scott made suggestions we didn't think possible. For example, my husband does NOT like the taste of Nori or the sushi vinegar in the rice - Scott recommended either subbing the nori for either soy wrap or cucumber. So my husband had the Tofu Junkie Roll sub cucumber for nori and the Fish and chips (sub hibachi veggies for the chips). I tried the Joe roll and the California Sunset classic roll. We split an order of salted garlicky Edamame. Lastly, I did feel like a pint of one item on the beer menu because they're were so many things I wanted to try. Scott suggested a "flight" of 8 samples, which actually sorta equates to a pint (and only paid $8.50).
Overall, the food was great (even my husband actually liked the California Sunset), the samples were great... But what made everything great was Scott! We were so gung-ho to try the B&I (s'ok, next time), but we still had a wonderful evening at Front...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went into Cask and Co (the nicer sit down restaurant attached to Front 43 sports bar) at 8:30pm for dinner. We walked in and noticed the bartender and one waitress near the bar a little busy with other customers so we waited to be seated like the signed asked. After a few minutes we watched the waitress walk to a table near where we were standing and take care of a customer and then walk back to the kitchen. After 5 minutes of waiting in a nearly empty resturaunt to be seated we decided to go to Front 43 and try our luck there, as we walked out of Cask and Co the waitresse watched us leave. Then at Front 43 we walked in, seated ourselves and noticed there was no waitress or bartender in the restaurant. We waited for probably another 5 minutes and watched as the bartender from Cask and Co came to the Front 43 bar grab a Stella, look at us, and walk back into Cask and Co. Then the Front 43 bartender finally came out and came up to us and said "do you want a beer menu?" I said "is the kitchen closed?" And she told me it closes at 9:30, to which I told her it was 8:30. She then went and brought us menus but by then we felt so disappointed in the service we left and went to Lansing Brewing Company (which has great food and...
Read moreThis is a really unique fusion sports bar and grill for their menu items varying from burgers to Sushi! I had to try the sushi though when I saw how awesome the rolls were looking on the menu. The tempura was perfect, I got the King Kong roll, I just substituted the crab for kalamari for an upcharge on the roll. I'm glad that my entree was so exceptional because the charcuterie board we ordered for our table is probably meant for just a couple and pricy for almost being $20 for the portions too. Definitely recommend enjoying their local draft selection. They have two hearted on top of the menu and always has been my go to, but there are definitely some other Michigan flavors I will be egar to try in the future. Michigan breweries do their distribution right and it's amazing how many local flavors they keep on draft. Definitely the place for the boozy foodie to enjoy really good food and drink and watch a weekend sports game at the bar. We dined in this past weekend when Michigan played Indiana, and man its definitely the local team supporters noise level in there for the away athletic lineup. Overall a good time, but definitely not as much of a quiet dining atmosphere for the volume of...
