My husband and I visited last night for a dinner out and had never been so thought we'd give it a try. The best I can say is the place was clean and well in order. Also, our waitress was amazing and showed herself to be an asset to the company they had better appreciate!
We ordered an appetizer and two meals, nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. I ordered a Steak (medium) with grilled shrimp, steamed broccoli and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The hubby ordered the tilapia with a side of grilled shrimp and mashed potatoes with a side of baby carrots.
My steak, while cooked perfectly temp wise was tough and over seasoned beyond belief. I couldn't taste anything but salt and spice that overpowered the chewy cut. Then I had the confusion of the shrimp which came on a beef of rice, seasoned with a sweet n spicy soy sauce concoction they added a side of on the plate. It was so spicy I almost choked and the combination of flavors made no sense on the same plate. My salad was shredded iceberg, a teaspoon of shredded carrots and a smothering of croutons to hide the fact the salad was sad at best. The dressing tasted like a bad store bought bottle.
Conversely, my hubby's fish had a nice taste to it though it was overcooked for my taste and also heavy handed on the seasoning. House shrimp were normal grilled shrimp that tasted pretty good.
The app we shared was a plate of cheese fries, something hard to screw up but they managed to almost do it in serving their house made ranch that was overly thin and runny, tasting suspect.
The bathrooms were shameful, the music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation and all I could hear was the bartender desperately flirting with a woman he was serving. It was sad, inappropriate and the only place to look away was a TV that was frozen on an old CNN interview.
Our waitress was great and I made sure to tip her well for it but the hosts were rude and with the food and everything else, I have to say this first trip was definitely our last. I won't be returning and have to sadly say I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone else in...
Read moreAfter a long flight, we immediately went straight to the nearest Cheddars since there’s only a handful in the U.S. but somehow Tampa has six restaurants. So we went for dinner and yes, it was exactly how we remembered it. Pure Heaven I say. Now I don’t have much expectations from American chains but Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is truly one of a kind.
Every dine in experience comes with honey glazed croissants which always come out phenomenal. We ordered Chips & Homemade Queso for appetizers. Not once in my life have I seen additional ground beef in a queso dip on the house. Afterwards, we got our main entrées: Bourbon Glazed Salmon & Shrimp, Lemon Pepper Chicken, Grilled Pork Chops, and New Orleans Pasta. Everything turned out great as we expected. The Bourbon Glaze had a sweet and savoury taste of salmon and shrimp along with smooth bourbon sauce on the side. The Grilled Pork Chops were cooked perfect as in no rawness but tender to remember. The Lemon Pepper Chicken was balanced in taste and size. And lastly, the New Orleans Pasta had a top notch Cajun sauce with a bit of spice flavour kicking in, blended with the chicken, shrimp, sausage, and pepper, onions, and penne. It even came with garlic bread We also ordered some signature margaritas on the rocks and frozen. Both turned out amazing.
The service was great and the atmosphere was well organized. The prices are reasonably affordable compared to others The place was quiet since it was still 4 p.m. that time. Overall, Cheddar’s still amazes us in many ways, even though this chain’s really underrated. Never has any of their restaurants disappointed us. We hope to stop by on our next trip to Tampa or the nearest one. I’m still flustered the nearest Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is 2 hours away. We need...
Read moreOn Feb. 5th, My husband I went to Cheddars on Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater Fl. We had been craving the Spinach Artichoke dip. Which is normally very good. Not this time. The dip was cold to the point the sour cream did not mix well. The chips were room temperature and stale. We thought this was just an off night as we have been to that particular location many times at the dip was always great!. We both ordered the 14 oz. Ribeye's. They looked and smelled delicious! Until we started eating them. I understand a well marbled steak is good for flavor and juiciness, but when you start cutting off fat and gristle and the meat just whittles away is another story. We paid nearly $20.00 for each steak and wound up with about half of it being fat and gristle. We also ordered "loaded" baked potatoes and got a smaller size potato with butter and sour cream. When I asked where the bacon bits, chives and shredded cheddar was, I was informed it was available, but it would be an "upcharge" of $1.99 per topping. Whenever we have ordered a loaded baked potato at any restaurant the mentioned items were part of the "loaded." I understand businesses are trying to re-coop their losses after being shut down because of Covid, but seriously? You want people to come back again and again and spend their hard-earned money on a treat for themselves by dining out, then don't nickel and dime them to death and make sure the food they are getting, especially Ribeye's are worth the price! I doubt very much we will be returning to Cheddar's any time soon. The Server was fantastic! She was very attentive and pleasant and actually seemed embarrassed to have to tell us about the extra cost for...
