I have been a loyal customer until today, I must say. I moved from Miami in 2020 to Largo to assist in the hospital in the middle of the pandemic. It was the only Cuban place I found in the area. At first it was very hard for me to like the Cuban food there because it is not authentic, it was rather an experiment on their part to call that cuban food. However, everything changed when I tried their Sandwiches. I really liked and enjoyed their soups, salads and Cuban sandwiches. I must honestly say that their cashiers are most of the time looking miserable, rude and unfriendly. They just take the order, but unwelcome any questions at all. They make you feel unwelcome with their attitudes and look of hate on their faces. Any questions Regarding the menu or anything else that causes any effort on their part aggravates them if it comes from a Latin accented voice. Today I asked what type of soup was available and she pointed to some foam containers with the size written on them. Afterwards, I was prompted to pay with the credit card and add the tip. I told her that obviously I would not tip her. I believe the tip should be earned with service, which I did not get whatsoever. I had ordered a soup and a Cuban Sandwich, they only brought the soup and forgot the CS. I was on the phone with my friend talking in Spanish and I told her I was not surprised she would spit on my food. I was not hiding what I thought and felt in the moment, I said it openly. They took the soup as per my request. I told them I would like to take a potato one instead. The owner came out and said that I had to pay for it. I said, why ??? I already paid for one that looked and did not smell right. I had been there multiple times. And trust me that soup was old. End of the story, the owner told me I was the rude one and that I did not have the right to get a substitute just on the basis I did not like how his soup looks or smells that he would not refund me or change my soup for a different one, that my request was not a valid argument. He also said he heard me in Spanish. He asked me to leave and not to come to his place again. I am Cuban and I have felt the annoyance my accent brings to their staff. The cashier was rude to me because I know what rude is and I saw how she treated the people before me. Definitely there was a big difference. I am very sorry but típs are optional, Specially when you don’t have a waiter. Sir, owner or manager. She did not take my order right, the soup smelled Terrible and no one should pay for things that were not consumed. I wish you good luck with your extraordinary business...
Read moreSecond time visiting Havana Harry's. Food was excellent service was adequate but attitude was sub standard. We arrived at approximately 7:00 pm knowing that they closed at 8:00 but fully expected to finish dinning by closing time. I immediately got the impression that we were being done a favor by allowing us to eat inside. My guess is that the people that were working yesterday wanted to leave as quickly as they could and would have preferred we took carry out so not to interfere with their recreation. The comment l receive from the young female was that we were lucky to have the opportunity to eat inside since they stopped serving at 7:30 and closed promptly at 8:00. I did not know this and asked how l would. The reply was that had l called in l would. Gee, does everyone call in when they expect to eat in?? During our conversation, a large young man joined the covers ations obviously to defend the girls position. I asked him if we had to take a little time past 8:00 would he throw us out. He replied that he could. A veiled threat? I own a small business myself and if l treated my customers as such would not have them for long. Summation. Food is great service adequate, attitude stinks. Harry needs to give them lessons in customer service or replace them. Love the food but...
Read moreThis small family owned company is by far our FAVORITE restaurant, hands down. Although we've only been 2x so far, we literally crave their food and the entire vibe these people give off. We always call to place our order, and the same woman has answered the phone both times. You can tell she's experienced, and has been with the company a while. She is so respectful, knowledgeable and has such a warm disposition. Even over the phone, but more so in person.
The 1st time we went(about 1.5 weeks ago) we both got a Cuban Sammy, plantains, rice and beans, tiramisu and caramel flan. The 2nd time(today) we got a Cuban, French Dip with Aju, rice + beans, plantains, cucumber salad, chili, tiramisu, caramel flan and a cookie bar. Everything was excellent. As always. Just look at the pics to determine for yourself. The woman that works the front counter is amazing, and so so sweet every. Single. Interaction. We spent $70 today, and will have enough food to eat for days. Overall, we are delighted and stunned to of found such a great, affordable restaurant with such good people.
