I had not been at this place for over 15 years. My honey and I took my dad to his favorite place. Dad bragged about the good food and friendly staff. He was right. Nueva Casita cafe sits in a historic district of Las Cruces, right across from Klein park. This great place is not ar from the court house, library and the downtown mall. I suggest you take a short walk when in these areas to grab a bite to eat here. Plenty of seating and tables can be moved to fit a larger group. If you drive there is plenty of parking behind restaurant in a gravel lot. If you dont mind parking on a narrow street you can park by the park. The inside is a little dimly lit, and that is too bad because you might miss seeing the historic architecture of the place. The outside of building is painted in quaint familiar mexican motif. It catches your attention right away. Honey had the Chimichanga bandera, it was almost too pretty to eat. I had the red enchiladas with an egg on top. Dad had his favorite combination plate that had a lot of everything. I didnt get a picture of it, but I did of the other two dishes. I'll visit this place again, when I return to Las Cruces.

We have a family 'rule' that we always try a local restaurant never a chain when visiting a new place, and this place came up in our Google search. This quaint little restaurant is in a quiet little neighborhood, appropriately facing a neighborhood. The food was quite good! Everything from the chips and salsa (just the right amount of kick!), to the gorditas, and flautas de la bandera (I ordered the shredded beef). Everything tasted like home! I'm a stickler for good iced tea, and this place did not disappoint! Crisp and clear and delicious, with plenty of ice! The service was friendly and helpful, and the place is nice and cozy. Being that we're out of towners, I don't know when we'll be back, but all you locals need to pay them a visit so that this little neighborhood gem will continue to thrive!

The chips & salsa are very good. Salsa has just the right amount of kick to it. The green enchiladas do not come with the traditional crema, which is a bit disappointing that you have to ask for it and then wait. My daughter ordered the beef tacos and loved them. I drink tea unsweetened, and it's often hard to find really good unsweet tea because it's often bitter. But the tea here is excellent 👍🏼. It really doesn't need anything else added to it. It gets very busy at this restaurant because of their high rating on Trip Advisor, so it's likely you'll have to wait to be seated. We waited about 30 minutes, then service was a bit slow because it was so busy. They have a good amount of parking located behind the building and it's free.

Ordered takeout for dinner and the staff couldn't be nicer! Really helpful on the phone and asked about toppings when I got there to pick up the food. We ordered the tacos estrella, the Chile relleno platter, and the cheesecake with strawberries. The tacos were amazing! I was so jealous of my fiance for ordering them! I had the Chile rellenos and I should mention that this was my first time ordering them. Really liked the green Chile sauce, but I thought they were a little soggy. Not sure if that's how they're supposed to be or it's because we did take out and the sauce was already on them? Anyway, the rice on the side was great. And we loved the cheesecake! Super light and creamy! We really liked la nueva casita!

What a great find exploring for the first time in Las Cruces! Cozy atmosphere with warm and friendly staff quickly followed up with great New Mexican food. My wife who never eats omelettes stole my initial choice of the chile relleno omelette which was both something a little different and very tasty. So I switched to the huevos compuestas, delightful corn bowls filled with chile and topped with eggs. Christmas style chile of course which both red and green were fantastic. Oh… and my wife couldn’t stop mentioning how good the corn chips with the great salsa were… she’s very picky about corn chips! If in Las Cruces do yourself a favor and try this place. If you enjoy New Mexican food, you’ll not be disappointed!!!

I really enjoyed La Nueva Casita Café’s menu. My husband had stopped in last weekend to pickup breakfast burritos and those were incredible. We had eggs, cheese, & shredded beef; eggs, bacon & cheese; in addition to Chorizo & eggs. We went for dinner Wednesday. I am only able to think of one thing that was a negative and that was the interior needed painting and the popcorn ceiling removed. Other than that the kitty and service address were spotless! My husband had chicken fajitas and loved them! I had the shredded beef flautas. Great food. No pics of the husband‘s meal he was hungry and loved it!
