Read moreFor a fine dining restaurant this place was meh and definitely NOT worth the money. I've been to many wonderful steakhouses and this one was on the disappointing side. I'll start with what was good. The cocktails were delicious and the au gratin potatoes were AMAZING! If you are eating at Carver, definitely try the gratin potatoes. The broccolini was also really enjoyable. Here's why our experience was disappointing and I recommending dining elsewhere: The $75 filet was mediocre at best. Kind of dry, no flavor. It was really boring and the crust tasted kind of burnt. My friend ordered the roast chicken. We had eaten at another restaurant the night before and the chicken was WAY better and half the price. The service was honestly the most disappointing part of the dinner. Our server felt like I was dining at a sports bar or diner rather than a fine dining restaurant. Zero personality and not very friendly. Wasn't knowledgeable about food allergies (which was fine) and said he'd ask the chef but then never came back to the table to tell us if what we ordered was okay. Food was delivered and then when he came to check in we had to confirm that what was on the table was safe for our allergy. He tried to take my $25 martini away when it was still about 1/4th full. (I get that the restaurant is dark and hard to see if the glass is empty but he didn't ask if i was finished, he just grabbed the glass and there was a lot of drink left. I had to yell after him not to take it.) Same happened with the potatoes. Tried to take the dish while we were still eating. Super weird not to ask if we were finished before just grabbing plates and walking away. One of the waiters dropped a knife on our table when they were delivering the food and it broke a water glass which spilled everywhere. They didn't clean all the water off the table before putting the food down so there was just water all over the table during and after our meal. Manager never came over once to check in. We were celebrating our friend's birthday, which was on the reservation. One of the servers noticed the birthday reservation and approached us with a "it's your birthday - what dessert would you like?" which, typically means a free dessert. When we got the bill we realized they charged us for the dessert. Kind of tacky in such an expensive place. We would have been happy to pay for the dessert but it was just weird to mention the birthday thing. I dunno - i've never been to a restaurant that charged for a birthday dessert. My credit card was charged for a higher amount than my bill which was also super weird. When i brought it up to the server he said that someone rang food in on our bill after he swiped my card. None of it really made sense - I didn't really care what happened. People make mistakes. I just wanted him to fix the issue and admit the mistake. I mean, none of this is really upsetting if you are at a casual restaurant. But to spend almost $500 for three people on dinner and feel like the food was meh, the service was kind of bad... There are a million places to eat in Vegas. I'd go with a...
Read moreMy partner and I were celebrating my birthday and were super excited to finally try Carversteak. We made reservations a month in advance via OpenTable for Saturday, February 12 at 8:00 PM.
Upon check-in, there was no acknowledgment of my birthday whatsoever and none of the requests I made for booking were accommodated either. I had requested to be seated indoors in a booth and had been placed outside on a 2-top right next to the server station. So romantic.
We were disappointed that the lobster en croute had already sold out for the evening but in retrospect were quite fortunate as the rest of the meal was less than stellar so we figured the $95 savings was more beneficial for us.
WAGYU CHEESESTEAK BITES ($21) — this was definitely the best dish of the night. You’d probably think to skip this during a steak dinner but honestly, you NEED to try this. The meat was so tender and the cheese was amazinggg. I wish I had ordered ten of these.
16 OZ STRIPLOIN ($62) — 21 days wet aged and requested to be cooked medium. I’m not super picky about the end pieces either being a little more on the medium well side and the center being a bit more medium rare but this steak was definitely better than what my partner had. Because of the cut and thickness, it was certainly very juicy. I do recommend this cut when ordering here.
16 OZ BONE IN RIBEYE ($72) — 27 days dry aged and sadly so, so dry. The partner ordered this medium as well and it came out more medium well. A good steak doesn’t need to have sauce but we regretted not ordering any because it MAY have saved this steak.
ROASTED MUSHROOMS ($16) — I wish I asked what kind of mushrooms these were because they were not it… like at all. And this is coming from someone who absolutely has to have mushrooms with every steak and pizza. Super disappointing.
ASPARAGUS ($16) — thank god they couldn’t possibly ruin grilled asparagus because they were the only side dish we actually enjoyed.
POMMES PURÈE ($12) — they said this was whipped and buttered but it came out with such a soupy consistency that when you lift the spoon off the plate it literally drips down. How fun… and absolutely tasteless, might I add.
At the end of the dinner, we were just so disappointed by the entire meal that we didn’t even care that they didn’t say happy birthday or offer us dessert. I very rarely write scathing reviews but could not find a reason for why they deserved more than 1 star. I wish that this could have been a better experience as we really love staying at Resorts World and the concept for this restaurant seemed so promising. But maybe they talk the talk better than they...
