The property is beautiful. The management is not. I went here for a solo day during the Presidentsā day long weekend. I was recommended by friends and have met the (2021, opening) Spa Director at past events (I work in the spa industry) and I was left disappointed. I really hope itās not the same woman. From the admin experience of booking online, I had questions so tried to call the spa a number of times over the week prior, and the call continually rang and rang and then would be hung up. I booked online. I never received an email of receipt, a reminder, or an email, text or call confirming the appointment beforehand, or any ātips before you arriveā type communications. I arrive for my 3pm appointment to resorts world front entrance, and there are NO signs in the main lobby of the property saying anything about the spa. No directions anywhere, and since I did not get any communications prior, I was wandering around for a while. I arrive at the spa around 3:10-3:15 so I was late. However, because I cannot call the front desk I couldnāt let them know, and nor did they call. Upon check in, the staff were pleasant enough. No greeting beverages or anything of the like. Then, I need to wait 20-30 minutes for a āspa hostā to take me in and give me a tour. I did not enter the actual spa space for my 3pm appointment until 3:50pm. I understand I was late, and working in the industry I get it, but the customer care was not there. Waiting for 20 minutes to be attended to when there were many staff around was appalling as a luxury resort spa in Vegas. The actual spa space is amazing, and with better management I can see why this is/was a highly regarded place. However, I was at the Virgin hotel spa the day prior, and although smaller and less opulent, I would recommend anyone to go there instead. Night and day difference.
The Awana spa towel receptacles were overflowing, all of them. There was food from the snack bar on the Fountain of Youth pool deck that was not being cleaned. There were not 1, not 2, but 3 different couples who over the course of my 3 hour stay were practically reproducing in the pools. It was a long weekend after Valentineās Day, and a large coed space so what a lovely date idea, however there was no monitoring or checking up from āspa attendantsā to maintain the spa atmosphere of relaxation and peace. It was disgusting. There was also a group who shouted across the pools at each other. Sorry to be a grandma, but I needed a staff member to come āshhhā them. For the $140 price tag + an AUTO grat of 20% (which given the experience I would not have given), skip this spa and go to Virgin, another Hilton property where the staff are ON IT.
Itās too bad because the actual structure of the spa is beautiful, but whoever is in charge of this place now has got to do a walk through as a first time guest and find their blind spots, because there are a lot. An absolute disgrace to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was ready to rate this spa a 20 until we wanted to order their in-spa food options (myriad bento boxes - read below about that nightmare). There are so many great details that make this a great spa - the sauna-meister and heated lounge chairs were my favorite! If you enjoy scents to enhance your spa experience, you absolutely have to check out the sauna-meister performances held a few time throughout the day in the dry sauna - wow! They said the Awana spa is the first in the US to offer this typically European practice as a part of their spa experience and it is impressive! They offer still and sparkling water and light snacks to enjoy throughout your experience. The main wall in the Fountain of Youth is a video screen that rotates through peaceful scenery as opposed to the same view throughout the day which is nice if you are enjoying for a few hours so your stay doesnāt become stale. Although they didnāt have any 60 or 90min appointments for a massage available, we were able to book 50-min massages and still enjoy the spa during the day before our massages. Overall, a definite must if you are looking for a relaxing experience. It would have been nice for the steam sauna to incorporate scents like Lifetime fitness incorporates eucalyptus.
Now for the food ordering nightmare: To start, the room where you order and enjoy food was suppose to be attended but we had to search the spa for an attendant. We waited 20mins for someone to come after we found someone and told them we were wanting to order food. When someone finally arrived, they werenāt prepared to take our order (there were four of us so we wanted to order a variety) so left and then came back about 15mins later w another person who told us they sold out of the options we wanted. They didnāt attempt to offer a solution so we asked about ordering from the hotel - it would take 2hrs. We then asked whether there was food service at the pool - they were unable to answer and didnāt offer to find out. We had to leave the spa on the search for food which totally took away from our spa experience. We returned to the spa just in time to make our reservations for massages. They were well aware of the volume of guests they were anticipating that day (we stopped in the day before our reservation) and should have increased their food order appropriately. We spoke to the manager who committed to working with their staff to avoid in the future, but for someone who worked in the hospitality industry previously, did not handle satisfactorily. No attempt to make right at all for us, just for future guests. I do hope they follow through and no other guests experience what we went through because it 1000% detracted from our experience. If it werenāt for the combination of all of the other spa amenities, this could have been a deal breaker to ever consider returning or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSpent 5 hours at Awana with 3 of my gal pals for a group birthday trip that we were in town for and we had the most incredible time. The best spa experience of my life and I will be back! A truly memorable experience.
We were greeted by warm, welcoming staff at the front desk who confirmed all of our reservations and made sure everything was split appropriately since one of us had booked services for 4 people but we wanted to do separate payments. Christine was our spa hostess and could not have been more kind, helpful, and enthusiastic about showing us the space and checking in with us throughout our visit. Loved that we had waterproof bracelets that acted as our locker keys. Everything was impeccably clean and well stocked. It was a wonderful introduction to the spaces. We enjoyed the wonderful included amenities ahead of our massage services including the co-ed space with different temperature pools, the salt room, tropical and arctic showers, sauna, snack area. The womenās area pool, steam room and rain showers were also really great.
I booked a 60 min Himalayan salt stone massage and it was beyond my expectations. Bronson was absolutely fantastic!!! I arrived with horribly tight shoulders/neck and so many knots - my entire body was just a wound up ball of stress and anxiety (thanks work and life in general). This was the BEST massage Iāve ever had in my life and I left feeling like an entirely different person! Days later Iām still feeling my shoulder FINALLY released after months. Bronson is truly an artist and magician for sure. Prior to our session, he put me at ease immediately, communicated clearly and professionally, explained what to expect, gathered my preferences, took his time addressing any of my concerns, went through aromatherapy options, etc. This was a much nicer personal touch and connection rather than filling out a piece of paper with preferences and such. Bronson also communicated throughout my treatment as needed and was so in tune with my body that I didnāt need to ask for any adjustments - thatās rare! At the end of our session he also gave great recommendations on future treatments and how I can better care for my body with regular massage. Thank you Bronson, you have been a lifesaver!
My only notes for improvement would be for the lounge area - it was a lovely space with plush recliners and multiple tv screens. Maybe consider having a similar lounge space (or one side) without the screens and maybe just some light relaxing music for those of us who really want to unplug from screen time fully. They were out of some of the food options which was a bummer, but what we did have was great. Nice selection of fruit juices and healthy bites.
The staff is top notch! Thank you Awana! I will see...
