My first visit to Resorts World didn't go very well. TBF, the venue was OK aside from the volume & the acoustics but it was the employees who made the whole experience truly awful. To address the sound issues, I think the last time I attended a concert that was so loud it gave me a headache was over 20 years ago at The Mercer Arena in Seattle, a spot with notoriously bad acoustics that was imploded many years ago. I actually wear hearing aids now, in part because of all the shows I saw at that arena as a kid. I was not wearing them that night and it was still too loud. I go to a lot of concerts and this is the worst it's been outside of Mercer and I had my full hearing capabilities. I kept getting a warning on my Apple Watch watch about high noise over & over again, which rarely happens at other spots. For reference, I got none at The Sphere for U2 or Dolby Live for Lenny Kravitz, and those are 2 spots with over the top sound systems.
As for the employee experience, my wife has a back injury that was acting up so I dropped her off right near the entrance so she wouldn't have to hoof it through the parking garage. It was my first time there and I didn't know how long of a hike it would be. We have a placard so we can utilize disabled parking but that's almost always full everywhere we go and it was here as well so I was glad that I didn't make her walk from the car. Unfortunately, I also have some joint issues that I recently had surgery for and I had to hoof it a ways, which was unpleasant.
When I got in, there was a very long line looping around the lobby. Luckily, my wife had gotten in line pretty early & was near the front. Unluckily, the terrible employees would not let me join her even though she was standing in front of the entrance. The guy I took a picture of was a particularly awful person and made me go to the back of the line and then walk all the way around for no apparent reason. There was no appealing to his logic or good nature even though my wife was standing right there telling him the situation. After the long hike round and round the lobby, I hit security who told me that the small keychain multitool attached to my keys either had to be surrendered or taken back to my car. It was sentimental so I then had to hike all the way back to my car and then back to the theater & then stand in line again. I have never been forced to do this at any of the dozens of shows I've attended here, & that tool has been on my keychain for years.
By now, I'd missed the beginning of the show and was furious. Honestly, I'm still furious. Las Vegas hospitality is dead at this spot and I will avoid it like the plague and let everyone I have the opportunity to tell about this that Resorts World is a terrible property that doesn't care about their guests, has terrible employees and ridiculous rules. It's nearly enough to make someone want to go on a stabbing spree with the tiny blade on a Leatherman...
Read moreKaty Perrys show was absolutely phenomenal! She knocked it out of the park. My main reason for not giving five stars is due how the theater handles a few things. The ticket says the show starts at 8:00pm but it actually starts at 8:30pm. They have professional photographers that can take your picture in front of a big poster and in front of the stage and then they try to charge you $53 for an already printed out picture in a diploma like binder! That's outrageous! They can't just sell you the digital copy for a reasonable price or just the photo itself. They don't explain any of this to you when they are taking your photo and giving you the false hope that you'll have a nice picture to look back on with a good memory. Also, they had a QR code you could scan and donate to Katys charity foundation for the opportunity to dance with her on stage. They presented it like the more you donate you increase your chances of winning. They ended up choosing someone who just did the free entry and didn't donate at all! That is literally like stealing from people because you're completely lying to them about why they're donating. I get it's a charity but you're presenting a false narrative and giving people false hope and it's not fair to everyone who paid money to donate in hopes of getting to be with Katy on stage. Also there isn't very clear direction on where you exit the stage after the show. I hope they can fix these issues and prevent them from happening in the future to create a better overall experience...
Read moreHaving watched more than one major artist perform on this stage was absolutely amazing. There are various "adaptive" details that kick it up a few notches for an enhanced experience. Examples: A massive crystal clear screen (and I mean arguably the best resolution for something that size I've ever seen) engulfing part of the stage that plays whatever the artist production team sets up. At the bar, the drink menus change to match the theme of the artist. One day you could be ordering a 'momma's mule' and the next a 'magic unicorn.' Same drink, different artist performing. Actual drink names weren't remembered, but you get the idea. I may or may not have drinking at these shows. The stage transforms to meet the artists' needs. I could easily write a detailed essay on just this alone. So I will leave it at this ... clever, intelligent, and creative were the only kinds of designers and engineers they hired to create the stage. Now for the only drawback worthy of mention. Parking. If your only intention at Resorts World is a show, getting in is the same pain as just about anywhere. Pay to park with a few exceptions. Leaving the Theatre is where the pain starts. It took well over 30 minutes from the time we got to the garage to leave the garage each visit. Next time we come here, we will either plan to stay in the casino for a while after the show, Valet...
