Such a cute restaurant! We love the location, itās minutes from home and we love eating at the restaurants in Tivoli. We decided to go last night and although we didnāt have reservations we were lucky enough to grab a bar seat! We were thrilled! The bartender gave us water right away but warned us of how busy they were. 20 minutes later he finally took our drink order and appetizer order and again apologized that they were so busy. Shortly after that we got chips and salsa. The chips were warm and were really good and both salsas were refreshing! The drinks were strong and yummy!
For an appetizer we ordered the Tableside Guac which took another 20 minutes to get. I was excited to see how they were going to prepare it and I love watching the āshowā. We were disappointed when the waitress told us she had to make the Tableside Guac ($14.00) in the back and asked us if we wanted everything on it. Disappointed that they didnāt charged us the full price without the āshowā. She had enough room to bring the Guac cart at the bar area we were at. We sat in the corner, at the short table and there was a lot of space behind us. The guacamole was really spicy. Too spicy for me. I really wish I couldāve seen and control how much peppers she put in there š„ŗ
For dinner I wanted a combination platter. I only get one cheat meal a week, so I wanted a cheese enchilada and a taco. I was told that they were NOT doing combination plates. 𤨠I tried to get around that and ordered the crispy fish taco plate and a cheese enchilada on the side. I was told that I could NOT do a SIDE plate of enchilada... what? š§ No combination dinners and no side dishes... Wow, huge disappointment for me. My boyfriend ordered the Filet Mignon Taco. The bartender asked us if we wanted rice and beans on the side and I said yes and he immediately said, he will just put one order of rice and beans because itās a lot. We took his word for it. We ordered the tacos under the Signature and Crispy Tacos Menu. We were excited to see how these CRISPY tacos were going to be. There is another area on the menu that had Street Tacos so we were thinking the Signature and Crispy Tacos were different. When we got our dinner, they were like limp Street Tacos š©. The beans and rice were enough for just one person not both of us. I could barely taste the fish in the taco and my boyfriend said the same about his. All you could taste was the tortilla and sauces they put on it. The beans were good, and the rice tasted like it was soaked in butter... We decided not to eat dessert here because we did not want to be disappointed yet again.
We love the location, we love the ambiance and decor, we love the awesome drinks... however the food and timeliness of service needs a lot of work. We will give this restaurant another try in a month or so and hopefully they will work...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIm so disappointed with the service that El Dorado provided today. Im sorry to have to do this. We love this place but today it was just not one of those days. Keep in mind that no one is perfect.
We arrived at El Dorado on a beautiful night. But it all change when we got seated. The table we got sat at was wobbly not just like what ever wobbly but 70% wobbly. Instead of trying to move us to a different table they decided to fix the issue which they did. But the gentleman who fixed the table who was a total gentleman happen to touch our table on the way up after fixing the issue on the floor. (Note: Both of his hands were in the ground and touching the bottom of the table) He seem a little nervous but thanked us for our patience that he gave us a free flan. After a small chat I donāt know why but he reached for our silverware and polish them. I didnāt think of it much until my girlfriend mention that his hands were dirty. She only told me after the gentleman had stepped away. I got up to look for him to let him know what he did. Of course I wasnāt upset yet so I kindly asked him to please change our silverware. He apologized for the mistake and came back with a clean set of silverware. But then he did another mistake. He grabbed our contaminated silverware and place the new ones on top of the already cross contaminated plate where the other dirty ones sat. My girl was over it and I was too I didnāt want to say anything neither did. He asked us if we had order any drinks which we did (Tuesday $7, 1oz - 1942) my girl order 1 and I order 1 as well. He said donāt worry about them Iāll take care of them. We didnāt come to get anything for free. We had just drove 6 hours down from Moab, Utah and my girl and I just wanted to hang out and relax. What ever, we just wanted our food we were starving after that long drive. Then the sever took for ever to bring our 2 shots and the same for a glass a wine my girl ordered . She ended up cancelling the wine because by the time the server returned she was half way done with her meal. The server still brought the wine, apologized and said not to worry about it. My girl said no thank you she didnāt want it anymore. We love this place because they serve great food and service isnāt usually off as today.
Im not writing this to get anything for free or an apology Iām over it. Iām writing this so it can help this company fix this issue before it gets worse. Hopes this helps. The gentleman who try helping us did try but I think he might need a little more training or maybe he just needs to be more aware. Cross contamination is nothing to play around with specially in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to El Dorado Cantina for our 11-year anniversary. What a mistake! Weāve had significantly better service and food in third-world countries.
Flavor of the food is the reason it gets a one star. Everything else was horrible. Our āwaitressā took our food order and walked off faster than roadrunner speeding away from a coyote. Ok, could be a bad nightā¦
Waited about 20 anguishing minutes listening to Mexicoās version of āHavenāt Got Talent Radioā before we saw her again. I recommend taking your own drinks for while you wait.
Speaking of waiting: Waited about 1 hour 15 minutes for food. Ok, could be short on staff in the kitchen... Watched our waitress go to the table with a table of guys about 20 times throughout dinner. After another 45 minutes, finally had to stand up and ask for our waitress for the bill. Ok, you say to yourself? I agree, not the end of the world.
MUCH LONGER LATER Got the bill and there was an extra $26 for food we hadnāt ordered on it - āthat was for the other tableā was her reply. If I was going to be ordering food and drinks for another table, it wouldnāt be for a group of guys, but I hadnāt done that and would like it taken off the tab.
EVEN LONGER LATER
After another 20 minutes of waiting. I asked politely to take off the two dishes we hadnāt ordered. Got the bill back and she had only taken off one of the dishes. Finally had to stand up again and tell the manager I wasnāt going to pay for food we hadnāt ordered. He took care of it, and instead of letting me go back to my table proceeded to move in front of me as I started walking back to my table. Haute Couture.
EPILOGUE
The worst part of all: Instead of looking at my beautiful wife in the dress I had bought her - they kept the side door open the whole time making the restaurant so cold that we had to wear jackets inside.
THE COLD HARD FACTS
Waste of time. Watch your check to make sure theyāre not cheating you, and go when you have nothing to do for hours.
Not recommended if you have a beautiful wife and dressed well. If youāre a group of single guys, youāll probably get treated like human beings.
To the owners and managers: I recommend a training program for staff to understand how to run a successful restaurant clients will return to.
THE FOOD Flavor was good, although not overly spicy. Not worth the disrespect and lack of service.
WE will never go back to this place. Save yourself a headache and go...
